Description

Applied Biomolecules: Bioactive Materials (ABBM) is an international, peer-reviewed journal that aims to cover all aspects of biomolecules and bioactive materials. These include, but not limited to peptides, proteins, nucleotides, nucleic acids and their derivatives, and their translational uses. The journal welcomes high-quality submissions that translate the fundamental understanding of biomolecules and how they can be engineered to develop the next generation of functional, bioactive materials. We particularly encourage crossdisciplinary and groundbreaking scientific works, aiming at advancing global impact of applied biomolecules on biology, chemistry, biophysics, biotechnology and bioengineering, materials science, nanoscience and nanotechnology, and medicine.

The journal welcomes the submission of original papers and review papers, that are concerned with the science, technology and engineering of next-generation biomolecules and bioactive materials, with the purpose to become a platform of shared knowledge among academics, researchers, physicians and industry experts.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, synthesis, and characterization of peptide-, protein- and nucleic acid-based biomaterials and their application in hydrogels, scaffolds, composites, films, fibers, biomembranes.

  • Hybrid and composite biomaterials integrating peptide-, protein- and nucleic acid-based biomaterials with synthetic, semi-synthetic and/or natural matrices. Translational studies bridging molecular design of new functional peptide-, protein- and nucleic acid-based biomaterials and their clinical and/or industrial implementation.

  • Advanced analytical and characterization techniques for applied peptide-, protein- and nucleic acid-based materials.

  • Applications of biomolecules in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, wound healing, drug delivery, theranostics and precision nanomedicine.

  • Innovative bioactive materials applied to gene and cell therapies.

Editorial Policy

The first requirement for publishing in ABBM is the originality of the submitted manuscript, tailored with exceptional scientific and technological quality and relevance to a multidisciplinary readership. Research manuscripts without clear and detailed experimental information will not be considered for publication. Critical and comprehensive review manuscripts are considered on the basis of their significant contribution to the field of bioactive materials.
