This book discusses the importance of nitrogen compounds in the soil. Organized into 18 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the history of nitrogen and its compounds and the first synthetic process involving nitrogen compounds. This text then examines the preparation of synthesis gas for the production of ammonia. Other chapters consider the concentration of nitrogen gas on the Earth's atmosphere and the techniques used to handle volatile nitrogen–halogen compounds that are similar to those used for other reactive halogen compounds. This book discusses as well the chemistry of compounds in which nitrogen is bonded to one or more of the remaining elements. The final chapter deals with the gasometric method for the determination of either inorganic or organic nitrates. This book is a valuable resource for organic and inorganic chemists.
