Description

Sustainable Nanomaterials for Energy Production, Storage, and Environmental Remediation: Advances in Clean Energy Storage, Conversion, and Environmental Remediation addresses the twin challenges of environmental remediation and clean energy generation by providing a comprehensive overview of designing and integrating nanostructured materials. The book opens with a discussion on energy insecurity, pollution, and plastic waste, and the need for sustainable materials, then walks the readers through the basics of electrochemical storage and photocatalysis before exploring the state-of-the-art synthesis routes, green chemistry policies, and advanced characterization techniques. The different classes of materials, including metal organic frameworks (MOFs), Single-atom crystals (SACs), metal oxides, organic electrodes, 2D metal oxides, and chalcogenides, were explored by illustrating how defect control, bandgap engineering, co-catalyst loading, and doping can be tuned for H2 generation, water treatments, supercapacitors, batteries, CO2 reduction, and pollutant degradation. It will also stress the key role of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in advancing material discovery. Besides, it also focuses on the incorporation of circular economy principles and policy frameworks to facilitate the industrial adoption of green technologies. The book targets scientists, researchers, engineers, students, and industry professionals seeking fundamentals of material design, synthesis, characterization, and real-world implementation, uniting the fields of photocatalysis and energy storage. The book serves as a guide for anyone seeking understanding and contribution in the development of a sustainable future through advanced material science.
