R. Asokamani
Dr. R. Asokamani is a faculty member of physics with 45 years of teaching and research experience. He has teaching experience in solid state physics, materials science, physical metallurgy and mechanical metallurgy. His main areas of research include band theory, high pressure, superconductivity, aerospace and biomaterials as well as nanomaterials. He has produced 14 PhDs in these areas and has published more than 100 research papers.
Dr. Asokamani has been a guest scientist at ICTP, Italy and has given lectures in universities / institutes / laboratories in USA, Germany, France, Italy and Yugoslavia. He has given invited talks at several conferences. He was awarded a NASA grant to present a paper at MRSI conference on ductility enhancement of Ti alloys. He was a Fellow of The American Physical Society and was the President of the Tamil Nadu Academy of Sciences (now known as Academy Sciences, Chennai). He has published two books on Solid State Physics as well. Dr. Asokamani has conducted several national and international conferences on electronic structure calculations and properties of materials and material science and applications. He was chosen as a guest editor for a special section to publish works on Ti alloys, by the Journal of Materials, Processes and Applications.
