Mohammad Tajul Islam
As chairholder of the Chair for Sustainability and Textile Innovation, Mohammad Tajul Islam has contributed significantly to efforts to integrate sustainability into textile education, research, and industry practice. Funded by Engelbert Strauss GmbH & Co. KG and supported by Technische Universität Dresden and UNU-FLORES, the initiative has established a new Sustainability and Textile Innovation stream within the B.Sc. in Textile Engineering program at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST). The project develops new course modules, trains faculty, and enhances laboratory facilities, positioning AUST as a regional leader in sustainability education within the textile sector. With extensive teaching and research expertise in sustainable textiles, Mohammad is well-equipped to edit the proposed book on social sustainability in fashion and textiles, drawing on both his academic background and hands-on project experience. Faculty trained under his project, along with project consultants, will also contribute to various chapters. He has authored more than 15 book chapters and more than 27 research articles.
