In addition, this year there are three specialized reviews. Martine Demeunynck and Arnaud Tatibouët present recent chemistry of Tröger's Base in Chapter 1. Pedro Merino reviews the reactions of metalated heterocycles with carbonyl compounds in Chapter 2. John Joule summarizes the remarkable nucleophilic substitution chemistry on the indole five-membered ring in Chapter 3.
The subsequent chapters deal with recent advances in the field of heterocyclic chemistry arranged by increasing ring size and with emphasis on synthesis and reactions. Due to the ever increasing amount of material to be surveyed, the authors were encouraged to provide selective and critical reviews of the more significant papers where space does not allow comprehensive coverage.
For academics, industrial chemists and advanced students interested in heterocyclic chemistry.
Recent Developments in Tröger's Base Chemistry (M. Demeunynck, A. Tatibouët). Recent Advances in the Reaction of Metalated Aromatic Heterocycles with Carbonyl Compounds and their Imino Derivatives (P. Merino). Nucleophilic Substitution of C-Hydrogen on the Five-Membered Ring of Indoles (J.A. Joule). Three and Four-Membered Ring Systems. Three-membered ring systems (A. Padwa). Four-membered ring systems (J. Parrick, L.K. Mehta). Five-Membered Ring Systems. Thiophene & Se, Te analogs (E.T. Pelkey). Pyrroles and benzo derivatives (D.M. Ketcha). Furans and benzofurans (S. Greve, W. Friedrichsen). With more than one N atom (K. Turnbull). With N & S (Se) atoms (P.A. Bradley, D.J. Wilkins). With O & S (Se, Te) atoms (R.A. Aitken, N.J. Wilson). With O & N atoms (G.V. Boyd). Six-Membered Ring Systems. Pyridines and benzo derivatives (R.D. Larsen, I.W. Davies). Diazines and benzo derivatives (M.P. Groziak). Triazines, tetrazines and fused polyaza systems (C. Ochoa, P. Goya). With O and/or S atoms (J.D. Hepworth, B.M. Heron). Seven-Membered Rings (D.J. LeCount). Eight-Membered and Larger Rings (G.R. Newkome). Index.
