Dr. Walter Chan is the Director of the Center for Gastrointestinal Motility at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Director of Clinical Research Education at the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy, and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. He is a gastroenterologist specializing in esophageal, gastrointestinal motility, and gut-brain disorders. His academic interests center around understanding the pathophysiology and optimizing the management of esophageal and gastrointestinal motility disorders, particularly in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and its extraesophageal manifestations. He is an active clinical investigator and has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications, 22 book chapters, and 200 presentations at major national/international scientific meetings. He currently serves as Associate Editor for two peer-reviewed gastroenterology journals (Digestive Diseases and Science, Diseases of the Esophagus), as well as Section Editor for the ASGE journal iGIE.

Prakash Gyawali

Dr. Prakash Gyawali is Professor of Medicine, and Director of Neurogastroenterology and Motility at the Division of Gastroenterology, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, USA. Dr. Gyawali's academic interests include esophageal motility disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and functional disorders. He directs gastrointestinal motility centers affiliated with Washington Universit and is involved in motility testing using high resolution manometry, esophageal ambulatory esophageal pH and impedance monitoring, wireless pH monitoring and endoscopic functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP). He is actively involved in clinical research involving neurogastroenterology and motility, and has published over 325 original articles, several invited reviews and book chapters. He is an Associate Editor for three peer-reviewed gastroenterology journals (American Journal of Gastroenterology, Diseases of the Esophagus, Dysphagia). He is the editor of two handbooks: four editions for the Washington University Subspecialty Series for Gastroenterology, and A Therapeutic Guide to Common Problems in Gastroenterology.
