Vaidhyanathan Balasubramaniyan
V Balasubramaniyan received his Ph. D in 1964 from (Annamalai University). His post-doctoral training at the University of Notre dame in Prof. Pasto's group was followed at the University of Wyoming with Prof Paul Blatz. He had been with MSU, MI (Research Associate, Spring 1983) and UW (Faculty, Summer 1983).
Back in India in 1970, he established the graduate department of chemistry at HPT College, Nashik (University of Pune) and initiated independent research in heterocyclic chemistry supported by the University of Pune, UGC, CSIR, DAE and KVIC, all of India (1970 -1993). He received multiple best teacher awards including the prestigious Prof Narasimhan award for best researcher. Since retirement, he continued his teaching and research as Emeritus Professor at MGV Pharmacy college, and SMBT Pharmacy college in medicinal chemistry focused on biological activities (1996 - current). His publications have appeared in all major journals including Nature, JACS, JOC, Chem. Rev., Photochem . Photobiol., Heterocycles, Tetrahedron, Tetrahedron Letters among others .He is currently a visiting senior faculty with Homi Bhabha Centre For Science Education , Mumbai.
