Sotirios Koutsopoulos, Ph.D. is a Senior Principal Scientist at Pfizer. He has held senior level positions in industry (Pfizer, i2o Tx, etc.), academia (MIT, UPenn, etc.), and as an advisor for biotech and consulting firms.
He has authored more than 60 research papers, reviews, editorials, book chapters, and patents. He is on the Editorial Board of Cells, PLoS ONE, and Current Proteomics.
Dr. Koutsopoulos has worked for more than 20 years on designer peptides with diverse applications in tissue engineering, tissue regeneration, drug delivery, biotechnology (for the stabilization of membrane proteins), bioengineering (for the development of nanoelectronic devices), and immunomodulatory peptides, and more recently, on the formulation and delivery of a variety of pharmaceutical compounds including peptides.
His background in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and biology and his expertise in the design and formulation of novel peptide sequences provide him with a broad overview of peptide research and allow him to identify scientific avenues which will shape the future of health sciences
