Maria R. Mascarenhas

Maria R. Mascarenhas, MBBS, a board-certified Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Nutrition Specialist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania, Section Chief of Nutrition, Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Medical Director, Clinical Nutrition Department and Medical Director, Integrative Health Program. She received her medical degree from St John’s Medical College India, pediatric training at Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn and Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition fellowship at CHOP and Integrative Medicine fellowship at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Additional trainings include pediatric massage, ayurvedic nutrition, tapping and clinical hypnosis. An experienced clinician, educator, international speaker whose research areas include Cystic Fibrosis, Nutrition Support, 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, Culinary Medicine and Integrative Medicine. In addition to her many publications, she has written a book “The Anti-Inflammatory Family Cookbook” to help her patients learn about and cook tasty and healthy meals.

Michelle Loy

Dr. Michelle Loy, MD, FAAP is a nationally recognized quadruple board-certified physician who received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College, doctorate in medicine from Weill Cornell Medical College, pediatrics residency training from New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell, and integrative medicine fellowship training from Columbia University/Stamford Hospital. She utilizes evidence-based interventions from both modern medicine and time-tested traditional modalities including nutrition, culinary medicine, and botanicals to prevent and manage chronic medical conditions across all age groups at Weill Cornell Medicine. She frequently presents to physicians, patients, and the community on her clinical and research interests which include nutrition, culinary medicine, botanical medicine, cancer prevention, mental health, women’s and children’s health. Dr. Loy has published and achieved recognition in culinary medicine at national academic conferences. She is an executive board member of the American Board of Integrative Medicine and the AAP Section of Integrative Medicine.

Amy Dean

Amy Dean, MPH, RDN, LDN, is a clinical dietitian nutritionist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in the Division of Allergy and Immunology and the Integrative Health Program. She received her MPH in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina and in her final term of her MS in Integrative Nutrition at Bastyr University. In addition to supporting patients and families in outpatient nutrition and interdisciplinary clinics, she has developed culinary medicine resources for patients and families, advised a cookbook, and co-presents a culinary medicine workshop annually as part of CHOP‘s Integrative Health Symposium.
