Maria Angela Capello is a renowned expert and consultant in sustainability, author of mind-shifting reports in sustainability, like “Geoscience in Action – Advancing Sustainable Development, co-published by UNESCO & AGU, and “The Geophysical Sustainability Atlas”, published by the SEG. An inspirational and relentless leader in the energy sector, Maria Angela Capello (“MAC”) is a passionate advocate for Sustainability and Equity. She has worked for National, International, Independent and Service Oil companies, as well as academia across Latin America, the Middle East and USA as PDVSA, Kuwait Oil Company and Halliburton. She crafts and leads sustainability strategies for oil companies, academia, and professional associations. She actively collaborates with the United Nations, via UNECE, UNESCO, and numerous professional technical societies to promote sustainability and geosciences, including over 97 peer-reviewed articles, 4 books and regular speaking engagements around the globe. MAC was knighted as “Cavaliere” of the Order of the Star of Italy, a civilian honor bestowed to her by the President of Italy (2020). She is Co-Chair of the UNECE Working Group “Women in Resources Management”, SPE Honorary Member, the SEG Foundation Vice-Chair, SEG Sustainability Chair, and the global leader of “Geoscience in Action: Advancing Sustainable Development”, a 2023 co-publication of UNESCO-AGU. She is certified in Sustainability and Circular Economy by Judge School of Cambridge University, in Sustainability Management by the Wharton School of Penn State University, and in ESG reporting by the IFP School. She is a Physicist of Simon Bolivar University (Venezuela), and a MSc of Geophysics from the Colorado School of Mines (USA).
