Mohd Aadil Bhat

Dr. Mohd Aadil Bhat is an Earth and Environmental Science researcher specializing in isotope geochemistry, Hydrogeochemistry, and environmental geochemistry, with a focus on hydrological and biogeochemical processes in river basins. His Ph.D. research at Tianjin University, China, explored chemical weathering and dissolved carbon dynamics in the Upper Indus River Basin, Western Himalaya. Currently serving as Scientist D at SKUAST-K, Dr. Bhat integrates multi-isotope approaches with hydrological modeling to investigate carbon–sulfur–nitrogen coupling, trace element behavior, and climate-driven riverine biogeochemical transformations. Dr. Bhat has led and contributed to several internationally funded research projects (NSFC, ANRF, State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology), and his work advances understanding of hydro-biogeochemical feedback under climate change with implications for water resource management and ecosystem sustainability in the Himalayas and other mountain regions. He is an active member of AGU, EGU, and AOGS, and a seasoned reviewer for numerous high-impact journals. Dr. Bhat has received multiple awards including the Chinese Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship, Peiyang Future Scholar Award, and Best Presentation Awards.

Rayees Ahmed

Dr. Rayees Ahmed is a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Geography and Disaster Management, University of Kashmir, and a visiting researcher at the University of Leeds. Dr. Ahmed holds key editorial roles, including Guest Executive Editor for Physics and Chemistry of Earth, Parts A/B/C, Editor for Springer Discover hazards, Editorial Board member for Springer Earth Science Informatics, and Guest Associate Editor for Frontiers in Water. He is a seasonal reviewer of more than 50 prestigious journals, such as Nature npj natural hazards, Remote sensing, Natural hazards review and Atmospheric Science, and is an active member of the AAG, EGU, and AGU. With over 50 research articles and book chapters, Dr. Ahmed has made significant contributions to understanding environmental challenges. His work bridges local knowledge and global research, emphasizing resilience and sustainability in the face of climate change.

Ishfaq Hussain Malik

Dr. Ishfaq Hussain Malik is a postdoctoral research fellow in the School of Geography, University of Leeds, United Kingdom. His research focuses on political ecology, climate change, disasters, vulnerability, adaptation, and resilience. Ishfaq’s research examines the human dimensions of climate change, documenting Indigenous knowledge, identifying risk factors, developing community-based adaptation strategies, and understanding how communities experience, perceive, and respond to climate change. Ishfaq’s research examines how neoliberalism affects urban spaces and ecologies. His research practice is underpinned by ethnography and knowledge co-production and examines how global capitalism and colonialism create marginalisation, inequity, and injustice. His work also focusses on climate injustice and marginalisation, both in the Global South and the Global North. Ishfaq has an excellent track record of research publications in reputed journals like WIREs Climate Change and Ambio. His research publications focus on political ecology analysis of climate change, monitoring climate change impacts, livelihoods, disasters, and adaptation.

Omar Wani

Omar Wani is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Urban Engineering at New York University, where he leads the Hydrologic Systems Group. The group combines statistical and computational methods to study the dynamics of water in various built and natural environments.

Before joining NYU, Dr. Wani conducted his postdoctoral work at the University of California Berkeley's Environmental Systems Dynamics Lab and the California Institute of Technology’s Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences. He has a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, a joint master's degree from the Delft Institute for Water Education, the Netherlands and the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India.
