Giovanni J Ughi
Dr. Giovanni J Ughi is an engineer and researcher specializing in biomedical optics and medical imaging, with a primary focus on cardiovascular and neurovascular diseases and advanced endoscopic optical imaging techniques. He earned a PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences from KU Leuven, Belgium and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. His research has centered on the development and the clinical translation of novel intravascular imaging technologies, including multimodality coronary optical coherence tomography (OCT), next-generation miniaturized coronary OCT systems, dedicated high-resolution endoscopic imaging platforms for the human neurovasculature, and automated data analysis.
Tommy Andersson
Tommy Andersson MD, PhD, received his medical training at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm and is qualified as a specialist in Neurological Surgery and Neuroradiology. He is retired from positions as Professor of Neurological Interventions at AZ Groeninge, Kortrijk, Belgium and Senior Consultant in Neurointervention at the Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden. Professor Andersson was the founder and Chairman of the Swedish National Quality Registry EVAS (EndoVAscular therapy for ischemic Stroke) for ten years, the former Chairman of the Swedish Society of Neuroradiology and the ESMINT Examination Committee, responsible for organizing and establishing the ESMINT Diploma Examinations. He is the Chief Medical Officer of Ceroflo Ltd. Professor Andersson is a pioneer in endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke patients, starting to regularly perform thrombectomies in 2004. He has been the PI for several international multicenter studies, an invited speaker at numerous international conferences, and authored many hundreds of peer-reviewed articles.
