Dr. Costin specializes in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to enhance construction and infrastructure management. He has led the development of IoT-ACRES (IoT-Applied Construction Research and Education Services), an integrative system designed to support heterogeneous IoT communications and security services for construction sites and remote locations. Dr. Costin’s research focuses on interoperability among diverse technologies, facilitating seamless data exchange and collaboration in the construction industry. As the director of the Smart Construction Informatics Lab, he advances emerging technologies like Digital Twin and AI to promote smarter, safer, and more sustainable construction practices. A key investigator on multiple National Science Foundation projects and national BIM initiatives, Dr. Costin also chairs international efforts to develop open data standards. He is a dedicated educator and mentor, recognized for his excellence in teaching and his commitment to preparing students for the challenges of the evolving construction and engineering industries.

Kyle Morman

Kyle Morman, PhD, MSCM, BSEE, LEED GA, EIT, holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, a master’s degree in Construction Management, and a PhD in Design, Construction, and Planning from the University of Florida. Kyle's academic journey bridges engineering and construction management, with extensive research in wireless electrical systems for the built environment. As the lead graduate student on the NSF-funded Internet-of-Things Applied Construction Research and Education Services (IoT-ACRES) project, Kyle developed a suite of innovative prototypes, demonstrating his expertise in IoT applications for construction. In addition to his academic achievements, Kyle brings a decade of industry experience as a residential subcontractor and design engineer intern. His unique blend of hands-on industry knowledge and advanced technical research positions him as a leader in the intersection of construction management and IoT innovation.

Janise McNair

Janise McNair, PhD, is a professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Florida. A pioneer in next generation mobility management for cellular systems, her recent research involves AI and machine learning-enhanced IoT and smart systems. She is co-creator and co-developer of IoT-ACRES (IoT-Applied Construction Research and Education Services), an evolving integrative system for heterogeneous IoT communications and security services for construction sites. Dr. McNair is a member of the Intelligence, Science and Technology Experts Group of the National Academies of Sciences Engineering and Medicine, the Integrity Committee of the IEEE Computer Society, and the DARPA Computer Science Study Group. She has served as General Co-Chair of IEEE NetSoft, Workshops Co-Chair of IEEE ICC, and on editorial boards for Nature Communications Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, and Springer Wireless Networks. She was named a 2021 research Star in Networking and Communications by the N2Women Group.
