Description

Intelligent Monitoring of Transport Infrastructure comprehensively addresses the challenges of efficiently inspecting, managing, and maintaining transport systems, structures, and networks. It fundamentally proves how transformative the leveraging of cutting-edge instruments and accompanying techniques to enhance data collection, processing, and visualization can be for the field, resulting in more environmentally conscious as well as cost-efficient decision-making operations. From the latest advances in remote sensing, satellite imagery, digital twins, extended reality, and UAV applications to innovative uses of machine learning and artificial intelligence, the book offers a systematic overview whose added value is in the multitude of multi-disciplinary perspectives and invaluable actionable insights that it contributes.

The volume is divided into four sections, each of the first three focusing on a key area of development: data collection and analysis; data processing and AI applications; data visualization and management. Finally, the fourth section is fully dedicated to real-world case studies that illustrate data integration methods and the stumbling blocks of inherent implementation practices alongside lessons learnt and workable solution examples that readers from both academia and industry can benefit from, essentially enabling further investigations into enhancing the safety, resilience, and sustainability of transportation infrastructure.

Key features

  • Ensures readers gain a solid understanding of advanced remote sensing equipment and their use
  • Demonstrates how theoretical concepts and modern technologies are applied in practice through real-world case studies
  • Emphasizes data collection, processing, and visualization for more accurate and multi-criteria effective decision-making
