Adam Smoliński

Professor Adam Smoliński, PhD, Eng., graduated from the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, with a degree in chemistry, and from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland, with a master engineering degree in geoengineering and raw material exploitation. He also undertook postgraduate studies in Environmental Protection Management at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland. He undertook a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at Southern Illinois University in the USA. He is currently Scientific Secretary (Deputy Director for R&D) at the Central Mining Institute – National Research Institute and a lecturer at the University of Economics in Katowice. He is also a professor at Nasarawa University in Keffi, Nigeria. Since 2025, he has also been a visiting professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China. From 2019 to 2021, he was a visiting professor at Henan University of Technology in China. His specialist areas include clean fuel processing technologies. More specifically, these include gasification/co-gasification/co-combustion of solid fuels (coal, biomass, biowaste, sewage sludge) to hydrogen, carbon dioxide sequestration, and the chemical utilisation of carbon dioxide. He is also an expert in the use of sorbents and catalysts in hydrogen production. He is also involved in exploring and modelling data on a broad scale using chemometric methods. He is the author of over 250 scientific publications in the JCR database. He has won many awards, including the Witold Budryk Award of the Faculty IV of the Polish Academy of Sciences for his habilitation thesis, which was entitled "Unconventional methods of using hard coal to obtain hydrogen-rich gas". He also received a scholarship from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists. He was included in the Top 2% Scientists list published by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier, covering scientific achievements up to 2022, 2023 and 2024. He is also included in the annual Top 2% Scientists list, which has been published since 2019.

He sits on numerous Polish and international commissions and committees, including the Scientific Advisory Board of ECCSEL ERIC in Norway, VGB PowerTech in Germany, the Mining Scientific Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Academy of Sciences' Energy Commission, and the Polish Academy of Sciences' Chemical Sciences Commission. He is also a member of the Engineering Academies of Poland and Ukraine and an expert in the Horizon Europe Framework Programme at the European Commission. He is also a member of the editorial boards of many international scientific journals and is Editor-in-Chief of the Elsevier Journal of Sustainable Mining (IF -1.7; CiteScore (2024): 2.4; SJR (2024): 0.437; SNIP: 0.752 (2024).

Małgorzata Magdziarczyk

Associate Professor Małgorzata Magdziarczyk completed her Master's degree in Law at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at the University of Wrocław, Poland. She also completed her doctoral studies at the same faculty, defending her thesis and obtaining a doctorate in law. She was awarded the habilitated doctor degree in management and quality sciences by the Discipline Council of Management and Quality Sciences at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland. She also graduated from postgraduate programmes in European Union Law and Economics at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław, as well as in Human Resource Management at the Faculty of Management and Information Technology of the Oskar Lange University of Economics in Wrocław, Poland. She is the author or co-author of over 57 scientific publications, primarily in the JCR database, as well as two books. Since completing her Master's degree, she has practised continuously, specialising in providing comprehensive legal services and advice to businesses and individuals. She is an expert in civil law and civil procedure, labour law, commercial company law, economic law, copyright and related rights, administrative law and administrative procedure, personal data protection, European Union law and constitutional law. She also deals with aspects related to strategic management in enterprises, particularly the implementation of legal changes.

As a university professor, she lectures at bachelor's, master's, postgraduate and MBA level, and conducts research in the field of change management by economic entities. She is also a registered permanent court mediator at the Regional Court in Opole. She is also on the list of legal advisers representing clients before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
