Robert Ayuso

Robert A. Ayuso is a senior research geologist leading the Radiogenic Isotope Labs at the U.S. Geological Survey, Reston, Virginia. Dr. Ayuso has led and contributed to multiple projects throughout the United States (and internationally) focused on geochronology, geochemistry, and applications of radiogenic isotope tracers. His main interests are ore genesis of metal deposits and examination of chemical processes controlling metal transport in the surface environment that affect secondary minerals, soils, water, dust, and biological systems. His recent research focuses on granite-related ore deposits associated with critical mineral commodities, and metal transfer paths from ore to industrial applications and waste. He is a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geology, served as Associate Editor for Economic Geology, Associate Editor, co-Chief Editor and Chief Editor of the Journal of Geochemical Exploration. He received a B.Sc. degree from the University of New Orleans, M.Sc. from Stony Brook University, and a PhD from Virginia Tech.

Benedetto De Vivo

Benedetto De Vivo, graduated at Univ. Napoli Federico II, Italy, in Geological Sciences in 1971. He is currently Full Prof of Environmental Geochemistry at Univ. Online Pegaso, Napoli; and Adjunct Prof. at: Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA; Nanjing University and Hubei Polit. Univ, Huanghshi, China; and Member of Excalibur Group, New Market, MD, USA. From 1971 to 1976, worked for private companies operating in Italy and abroad; Researcher at CNR, Rome (1976-1987); Associate Prof (1987-2000) and Full Prof (2000-2017) in Applied Geochemistry at Univ. of Napoli Federico II. He was Chief Editor of: J. Geoch. Explor. (Elsevier) from 2007 to 2016, and Geochemistry-Exploration, Environment, Analysis (Geol. Soc. London) from 2017 to 2018. He has published 300 papers; 30 educational publications; 33 Monographs; and has edited 36 special volumes of peer review journals; 7 textbooks in geochemical prospecting and environmental geochemistry. Recipient of the 2019 Gold Medal of the Association of Applied Geochemists.

Nora K. Foley

Nora K. Foley is a Senior Research Geologist with the Geology, Energy, and Minerals Science Center (GEM-SC), U.S. Geological Survey, Reston, Virginia. Dr. Foley has served as project lead and as principal investigator for ore deposit research studies in economic geology, mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, fluid chemistry, mineral reaction rates, and related environmental impact studies at the USGS. Her current research includes ore genesis studies of rare metal deposits containing critical mineral commodities, including beryllium, rare earth elements, gallium, lithium, the base and precious metals, and their use in society. She also works on genesis of secondary minerals in soils and air filter samples. She is currently a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geology (SEG) and an Associate Editor for the Journal of Geochemical Exploration and past Associate Editor of Economic Geology, and Geology. She holds a B.Sc. degree from The University of Michigan, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Virginia Tech in Geological Sciences.

Philippe Négrel

Dr Philippe Négrel is senior scientist at BRGM, specialist in isotope geochemistry for 30 years. He has contributed to the fields of surface water – groundwater interactions; water-rock interaction; continental erosion; tracing actual and paleo circulation. He was deputy director of BRGM Divisions (2010-2022), involved in many EU projects and national research projects with French public bodies. Currently involved in major International bodies and international programs, as member or chair of international working groups dedicated to geochemistry (President of the International Association of GeoChemistry IAGC 2017-2018, Chair of the EuroGeoSurveys Geochemistry Expert Group), to sediments transfer (Steering Board member of the European sediment network SedNet) and to soil health (EuroGeoSurveys delegate in the Enlarged soil expert group for the implementation of the European Soil Strategy to 2030 to prepare the European Law on Soil). was an associate editor of Applied Geochemistry (2012-2019) and The Open Geology Journal (2008-2013), current associate editor of Journal of Hydrology since 2009 and Journal of River Basin Management since 2003.

Pei Ni received a Ph.D. from Nanjing University and became Full professor in NJU in 2004. He serves as deputy dean of School of Earth Science and Engineering, NJU, and vice director of Stake Key Laboratory for Mineral Deposit Research and Head of Institute of Geofluid, NJU. He is the chair of working group of inclusion in mineral of IMA, Secretary, Commission on ore-forming fluids in inclusions(COFFI) of IAGOD, Chair of working group of inclusion in mineral of CSMPG, vice chairman of committee of mineral resource of CMA, Vice chairman of commission on mineral deposit of GSC. Serves as associate editor of Journal of Geochemical Exploration, Ore Geology Reviews and Journal of Asian Earth Sciences. Editorial board member of Geochemistry: Exploration, Environment, Analysis. Annika Parviainen

Dr. Annika Parviainen received a MSc. in Geology and Mineralogy (University of Helsinki, Finland; 2005), PhD in Geoenvironmental Engineering (Aalto University School of Technology, Finland; 2012), and a PhD in Geology and Environmental Management of Raw Materials (University of Huelva, Spain; 2013). Her research focuses on the environmental impacts of mining and industrial wastes (phosphogypsum), especially on the mobility of metals to the surrounding soils, waters, and air. Her research is mainly focused on environmental geochemistry and mineralogy, and she has expanded her research to encompass the interdisciplinary field of Medical Geology by assessing the impact of mining pollution on humans (gallstones, blood, and urine) and the potential human exposure risk using lichens as bioindicators of atmospheric pollution and urban soils. Dr. Parviainen is an Associate Editor in the Journal of Geochemical Exploration (2015-present). She was an Associate Editor (2017-2019) and an editorial board member (2019-2024) in Geochemistry: Exploration, Environment, Analysis.
