Description
Description
Hematological Insights and Clinical Implications of Platelet Functions in Lymphatic Filariasis is a groundbreaking resource that delves into the impact of filarial parasites on platelet functions in humans. This comprehensive work explores the intricate signaling and immunological pathways affected by these interactions, filling a significant gap in the existing literature. The book is particularly valuable for researchers, scientists, and clinicians involved in the management and study of lymphatic filariasis, commonly known as elephantiasis; and also human platelets. With limited prior information on the interplay between human platelets and filarial parasites, this text offers a fresh perspective that could enhance patient management strategies. By understanding these interactions, healthcare professionals may unlock new avenues for effective treatment and prevention of lymphatic filariasis. This book is essential for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of the disease and contribute to its potential elimination.
Key features
Key features
- Offers information to understanding how filarial parasites alter platelet functions could lead to novel strategies for patient management

Review quotes
Review quotes
"...a brief text of about 300 pages primarily focusing on lymphatic filariasis (LF), a parasitic disease of low-resource countries. It reviews the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, laboratory diagnosis, and treatment of LF.... Clinicians who manage patients with LF as well as researchers who investigate LF disease mechanisms will find the book useful. More broadly, tropical medicine practitioners and parasitologists in general may find the book a useful resource.... The best features of the book are a state-of-the-art review of LF and information on the possible role that platelets may play in LF. Clinicians who focus on tropical medicine and parasitology will find this book a useful update..."
