Description

Handbook of Modern Dressing and Grinding Technologies Volume 2: Processes and Practical Applications covers every facet necessary for a deep understanding of modern dressing and grinding processes. Combining theoretical foundations with extensive industrial case studies, the book shows how tool selection, process parameters, and machining strategies affect process outcomes. By connecting process fundamentals with real-world applications, it offers valuable guidance for both experts and readers seeking a deeper insight into dressing and grinding technologies.
Topics include mechanical dressing with stationary and rotary diamond dressers, vitrified-bonded conventional dressing tools, and non-mechanical methods such as WEDM and laser dressing. The volume also addresses major grinding processes, including external cylindrical, centreless, internal cylindrical, surface, tool, free-form, jig, hybrid, and double-sided surface grinding, as well as monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimisation techniques.

Key features

  • Outlines the fundamental aspects of dressing and grinding processes and their real-world applications in industrial contexts
  • Covers a wide range of mechanical and non-mechanical dressing methods, major grinding processes, and approaches for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Uses extensive industrial case studies to demonstrate how tool selection, process parameters, and machining strategies influence workpiece quality, process stability, tool wear, forces, temperature, and process time
  • Provides practical guidance for selecting suitable dressing and grinding tools, process parameters, and machining strategies based on workpiece material, quality targets, and application conditions
