Description
Description
Fungal Conservation: Global Perspectives and Future Directions addresses the critical need to protect fungal biodiversity amid escalating environmental threats. Fungi are essential ecosystem components, yet remain underrepresented in conservation science and policy. This reference compiles the latest research, methodologies, and global perspectives to fill this knowledge gap for mycologists, ecologists, and conservation practitioners. The book is organized into five sections covering foundational concepts, innovative tools and technologies, ecosystem-specific conservation challenges, regional and national perspectives, and public engagement with policy integration. It features chapters on fungal ecology, molecular identification techniques, habitat protection strategies, and case studies from continents worldwide. The content also explores policy frameworks and citizen science approaches that support fungal conservation efforts. Fungal Conservation: Global Perspectives and Future Directions equips researchers, policymakers, and students with actionable insights and comprehensive resources to promote fungal inclusion in biodiversity agendas. It supports evidence-based conservation planning, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and advances public advocacy to safeguard fungal diversity for ecosystem resilience and sustainability.
