Luis Sobrevia

Dr. Luis Sobrevia is Professor of Molecular Physiology and Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland (Australia), Universidad de Sevilla (Spain), and São Paulo State University (UNESP, Brazil). He directs the Cellular and Molecular Physiology Laboratory at PUC and its branch at the Faculty of Medicine, UNESP. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, Fellow of The Physiological Society-UK, Fellow of the Academy of Physiology of the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS), and an elected member of the Academy of Sciences of Latin America. He serves as Editor-in-Chief, Executive Editor, Associate Editor, or editorial board member for several scientific and medical journals, as IUPS Representative to the Americas and member of its Cardiovascular and Respiratory Council Commission, and as co-Chair of the Liaison Committee of the Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Science Council. His research addresses altered fetoplacental vascular function in pregnancy-related diseases, including gestational diabesity, gestational diabetes mellitus, preeclampsia, and maternal obesity.
