(a) Carved up by humanity
(b) Sustainability in Concept and Practice Each section is streamlined and improved adding context for some of the less known examples in each biome. A new sub-section referencing "Aeroecology", arguably the largest habitat on earth that incorporates aerial species, will be added. Several of the terrestrial articles on birds and insects, for example, are in the terrestrial section and can be collated in this new group. In Freshwater, new topics help the reader understanding the big river systems and the wide variety of biodiversity levels and issues. These include the Amazon, Congo, Yangtze, Mississippi, Nile, Yellow, Amur, Rio Grande, Colorado, and Niger. In Anthromes, added emphasis is put on the idea of win-win ecology, the notion of coexistence as a means of recognizing development with a vision for preserving some of the world's megafauna. An overall review is added to compare and contrast the way the term biomes is used differently across the broad biological and geological fields. A glossary is included to help readers navigate the field with more ease.
