About the authors

Patricia A. Bradley

Patricia A. Bradley, MEd, PhD, RN, CCNE, has extensive experience teaching in Canada and the United States. Pat is professor emeritus in the School of Nursing at York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Community Nursing at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada; a Master of Education with a focus on curriculum at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont, USA; a Master of Science in Nursing at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York, USA; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of San Diego, California, USA. She has co-developed and teaches in the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing nurse educator certification program and is co-editor of a textbook for nurse educators in Canada. She has provided workshops on the NCLEX-RN to faculty and students across Canada. Pat’s recent research has focused on the experiences of internationally educated nurses and on intervention initiatives to assist these nurses with transitioning into the health care setting. She is passionate about nursing and teaching and is committed to ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide safe and quality nursing care.

Karin L. Page-Cutrara

Karin L. Page-Cutrara, PhD, RN, CCNE, CCSNE, is Associate Dean, Learning, Teaching and Academic Programs and an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream, at York University School of Nursing in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Karin obtained a Bachelor of Nursing Science at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and a Master of Nursing at Athabasca University, Alberta. Her doctoral work, at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, focused on the use of simulation prebriefing in undergraduate nursing education. She has taught as a perioperative clinical nurse educator in the hospital setting and in perioperative nursing programs in various colleges. Karin currently uses simulation in teaching thinking skills and for developing nursing competencies among baccalaureate nursing students. Karin also has an interest in course and curriculum development and revision. She has co-developed and teaches in the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing nurse educator certification program and is co-editor of a textbook for nurse educators in Canada. Karin is committed to addressing the challenges of teaching and learning in the academic setting in her current role as an associate dean, and to facilitating undergraduate nursing student learning and the development of clinical decision-making skills.

Linda Anne Silvestri

Linda Anne Silvestri has provided decades of nursing education and leadership that has directly impacted the growing and needed nursing workforce. Her research focused on a holistic investigation of predictors leading to success on the licensure examination. Her findings, published in the Journal of Nursing Education and Practice, led to significant contributions, filling a critical need in NCLEX® preparation. Linda’s vision was to provide a holistic educational approach to ensure overall well-being in test anxiety and self-efficacy, and success on the NCLEX®. As a leader in providing global NCLEX® preparation resources published by Elsevier, she strives for excellence in publication quality, based on the discovery of new knowledge in nursing, standards of care, and research-based studies. Her published resources ensure nursing graduates’ ability to make sound clinical judgments as they serve the public and the nursing profession. Linda is also a Next Generation NCLEX® Subject Matter Expert and Consultant for Elsevier.
