Elements of Smog Monitoring and Mitigation provides an overview of the sources and processes of smog formation in industrial as well as agricultural areas, together with its monitoring and mitigation. The first section contains six chapters and mainly focus on introduction, monitoring and modelling of smog. The first chapter describes the past, present and future scenario of smog effects on human health and the economy. The book then goes on to describe the regulatory framework of smog prevention, mitigation and control. This is followed by an analysis of the physics and chemistry of smog, including precursor conditions and pollutants. Later chapters cover: big data and its utilization in the modelling of smog formation; locations and patterns for preventive and decision making measures; the various models and techniques for smog and air quality monitoring; the small scale devices for monitoring of smog precursors from agricultural and industrial sources. Section 2 of the book deals with the agricultural sources and mitigation practices of smog. Section 3 deals with the prevention techniques and technologies from industrial sources. It describes the recent advances in smog and its precursor mitigation including nano technology, chemical and physical means of smog abatement

Dr. Shanawar Hamid received his MS in Environmental Engineering from Hanyang University South Korea in 2010 and his PhD in Environmental Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea in 2017. Dr Hamid is an Associate Professor at the Swedish College of Engineering and Technology (SCET), Rahim Yar Khan Pakistan

Dr Haseeb Yaqoob is a post-doctoral research fellow in the Mechanical Engineering Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, and received a doctoral degree from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia in 2022. He has an interest in alternative fuel, renewable energy, and thermal sciences

Dr Hafiz Muhammad Ali, currently working as an associate professor of Mechanical Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia; he received his doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from the School of Engineering and Materials Science, Queen Mary, University of London, United Kingdom, in 2011. He was a postdoc at the Water and Energy Laboratory of University of California at Merced, United States, during 2015-16. His research interests include thermal sciences, heat transfer, and solar energy
