About the authors

Veronique Boscart

Dr. Veronique Boscart is Executive Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences at Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi, UAE and an InterRAI Fellow. She held a 10 year CIHR/Schlegel Industrial Chair for Colleges in Seniors Care at Conestoga College, as well as positions as Executive Dean at Conestoga's School of Health and Life Sciences and Executive Director for the Canadian Institute for Seniors Care. Veronique holds an adjunct Associate Professor position at the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo as well as an adjunct scientist position in Intelligent Design for Adaptation, Participation and Technology (iDAPT) at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network. Dr. Boscart completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, after completing her doctorate at the University of Toronto. She obtained her undergraduate and Masters degrees at the University of Ghent in Belgium. Dr. Boscart has extensive nursing experience, working as a clinician, nurse educator, manager, and researcher in Canadian and international settings. Dr. Boscart's research interests focus on evidence-based care in gerontology, curriculum development of gerontological education for nurses and health care professionals as well as care models for nursing home care settings.

Lynn McCleary

Dr. McCleary is a Professor in the Department of Nursing and Graduate Program Director of the Master of Applied Gerontology Program in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at Brock University. Dr. McCleary is also Adjunct Member, Institute for Life Course and Aging, University of Toronto. She is a mental health and gerontological nurse who works with research teams and service providers on health and social care for older people and their families. Her research and practice emphasize improving dementia care services as well as improving gerontology and geriatrics education in the health professions. She is a past president of the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association.

Linda Sheiban Taucar

Linda Sheiban Taucar is Director, Centre for Health Care Research and Innovation at Conestoga College. Linda has been part of the Conestoga community for over nine years. She is a registered nurse and the former associate director, Health Sciences Research at the Canadian Institute for Seniors Care at Conestoga. Linda also teaches in the Enhanced Practice for Internationally Educated Nurses program at Conestoga. Linda received her bachelor of science and M.Sc. degree at the University of Waterloo in Health Studies and Gerontology and later went on to pursue her bachelor of science in nursing at York University.

Linda uses her joint clinical and research knowledge to advocate for gerontological nursing best practices. She leads applied research activities, focusing on evidence-based care and curriculum development in health care.
