Alaa El Din Mahmoud
Dr. Alaa El Din Mahmoud is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, at Alexandria University, where he also serves as a DAAD Research Ambassador. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Alexandria University and a Ph.D. from Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany. He has received prestigious fellowships from universities in the United States. His research interests include sustainability, waste valorization, water and wastewater treatment, microplastics, the circular economy, machine learning, and green nanotechnology. His accolades include the 2024 State Encouragement Award in Advanced Technological Sciences, the 2023 Alexandria University Academic Encouragement Award, and the 2021 Fulbright Award. Dr. Mahmoud has an outstanding publication record in peer-reviewed international journals and book chapters. He also serves on the editorial boards of international journals and books and contributes to funded research projects as a principal investigator and consultant.
