Muhammad Sajid Hamid Akash

Dr. Akash is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan. He got his PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Analysis from Zhejiang University, China. Currently, he is focusing on investigating the effect of endocrine disrupting chemicals on various molecular and metabolic pathways that are involved in metabolic disorders and their treatment strategies. His research work is cutting-edge and worthy of extension in developing countries, like Pakistan, where it can be most beneficial and cost-effective, especially for diabetic patients. Based on his significant scientific contributions in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences, he has been awarded “Research Productivity Awards” from the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, the PAS Gold Medal from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, and the A.R. Shakoori Gold Medal from the Zoological Society of Pakistan.

Shagufta Kamal

Dr. Shagufta Kamal is a tenured Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Government College University, Faisalabad, Pakistan. She earned her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan and has dedicated her career to elucidating enzyme-catalyzed mechanisms and translating those insights into solutions for environmental and analytical challenges. Her research program focuses on enzyme kinetics, protein engineering, biosensing, and bioremediation, combining fundamental biochemical investigation with applied technology development. Notably, she developed an acetylcholinesterase inhibition–based biosensor for sensitive detection of arsenic in environmental samples. Dr. Kamal’s work is characterized by scientific rigor, creativity, and a strong commitment to sustainability and public health. She has filed two patents with the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan and secured five competitive research grants from national funding agencies. In addition to publishing more than one hundred peer-reviewed articles, she has contributed 20 book chapters and authored three practical laboratory manuals plus one MCQ book for undergraduate biochemistry students. An experienced mentor and educator, Dr. Kamal supervised 35 postgraduate research, teaches core biochemistry courses, and actively collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to translate biochemical discoveries into practical applications. She remains committed to capacity building, community engagement, and fostering international partnerships to advance sustainable biochemical solutions.

Kanwal Rehman

Dr. Kanwal Rehman is working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacy in The Women University, Multan, Pakistan. Dr. Rehman received her PhD in Pharmacology from Zhejiang University, China. She nurtures a keen interest in the pathogenesis of metabolic disorders and new therapeutic modalities for its treatment. Currently, she is focusing on the investigation of the role of pharmacogenomics based upon gene polymorphism on various molecular and metabolic pathways that are involved in mitogenic disorders and treatment strategies, like natural biogenic compounds against different risk factors of metabolic disorders, including pancreatitis, cardiometabolic disorders, and hormonal imbalance. Dr. Rehman has also been awarded the Research Productivity Award by the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, Pakistan; the PAS Gold Medal from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences; and the A.R. Shakoori Gold Medal from the Zoological Society of Pakistan.
