Description

Antimicrobial Resistance in the 21st Century: Equity, Technology, and One Health Approaches offers a timely, interdisciplinary exploration of one of the most pressing global health challenges. Moving beyond traditional clinical and microbiological perspectives, this volume integrates equity, digital innovation, and One Health principles into a cohesive framework for understanding and addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). It examines how social determinants, economic pressures, and policy environments intersect with biological drivers to shape resistance patterns and outcomes worldwide. Drawing on expertise across pharmacy, medicine, public health, veterinary science, and data science, the book combines foundational knowledge with advanced insights. Real-world case studies and applied examples highlight antimicrobial use in human and animal health, stewardship strategies, infection prevention, and surveillance of both common and neglected diseases. Special attention is given to vulnerable populations, including neonates, children, and marginalized communities, alongside critical discussions of ethics, gender, and global inequities. The integration of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital surveillance tools demonstrates how emerging technologies can enhance prediction, monitoring, and decision-making in AMR. By bridging theory, practice, and policy, this book equips readers with the tools to design sustainable, evidence-based interventions. It is an essential resource for researchers, students, and professionals seeking to navigate and address the complex, interconnected dimensions of AMR in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
