Majeti Narashima Vara Prasad
Majeti Narasimha Vara Prasad obtained his MSc (Botany) from Andhra University, Waltair, 1973e75 and PhD (Botany) from Lucknow University, Lucknow, 1975e79 (research conducted at Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India). He was a lecturer, 1980-85, in the Department of Botany, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya. Prasad joined the University of Hyderabad, School of Life Science, and served as a lecturer from 1985 to 1986 and 1985 to 1986 as a lecturer (Senior Scale); reader, 1990e98, and Professor since 1998 to May 10, 2018, in the Department of Plant Sciences. Prasad served the University of Hyderabad in various positions such as the Dean, School of Life Sciences; Head, Department of Plant Sciences; Coordinator, Biotechnology Program; Coordinator of PG Diploma in Environmental Education and Management. He retired in the year 2018 February as a Professor and Dean, School of Life Sciences. Prasad made significant contributions to the field of environmental biotechnology. Prasad (with his group) has published 226 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and about 150 book chapters. He is the editor and coeditor of several books, Elsevier [20], Wiley [10], Springer [7]; one each by Fizmatlit Russia, Kluwer Academic, Russian Academy of Sciences, CRC Press, and Taylor and Francis, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India, Marcel Dekker, Narosa.
