Aggression and Violent Behavior is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes high-quality research syntheses, as well as quantitative empirical studies focused on a wide range of topics related to the field of aggression and violent behavior. Papers encompass a large variety of issues, populations, and domains, including child and youth violence (e.g., bullying, gang violence, juvenile offending), family violence (e.g., intimate partner violence, child abuse), violence in different settings (e.g., workplace, school, prisons), digital violence (e.g., cyberbullying, cyberhate), and different types of violent victimization (e.g., child, adult).Regarding research methodologies, research syntheses are preferably systematic reviews, including scoping reviews, evidence-based gap maps and meta-analyses. Narrative reviews and theory-building manuscripts are considered if they demonstrate exceptional value in terms of novelty and depth, and in instances where a systematic review is not feasible or appropriate. In the case of empirical studies, the logical connection between the theoretical framework, conducted analyzes and empirically based argumentation is emphasised. Longitudinal designs and representative or large convenience (e.g., resembling the population, collected in several institutions) samples are appreciated. Cross-sectional studies using cutting-edge methodology can also be considered.Manuscripts that articulate disparate orientations will be welcomed, given that this journal is cross-disciplinary and cross-theoretical. Papers will emanate from numerous disciplines including criminology, psychology, psychiatry, education, law, sociology, anthropology, genetics, social work, ethology, and physiology. Papers describing the study of aggression in mainstream, criminal, and psychopathological populations are acceptable. Reviews of analog investigations of aggression and animal models will be considered if the contribution is likely to lead to significant movement in the field. The emphasis, however, will be on innovativeness of presentation and clarity of thinking.

Mission StatementCurrent Research in Ecological and Social Psychology (CRESP) is a new primary research, gold open access journal from Elsevier. CRESP publishes original papers and short communications resulting from research in ecological and social approaches to human behavior.Current Research in Ecological and Social Psychology aims to bridge ecological and social approaches to human behavior. It integrates ecological and social psychology and focuses on broad topics such as cooperation and conflict, culture, communication, coordination, as well as the processes that might guide these behaviors, such as emotion, motivation cognition, or neuroscientific processes. Ecological psychology has slightly different meanings, but CRESP adopts a broad approach. It focuses on the relation between the individual and the natural or human-made environment. Key themes center on how climate, the presence of natural resources, as well as natural and human stressors (pathogens, disasters, density, conflict, migration, poverty), may affect cognition, emotion, and behavior of humans (and other animals). Social psychology focuses on the relationship between the individual and the social environment. Key themes center on how other people influence emotion, cognition, beliefs, coordination, communication, power, and cooperation. And finally, the interplay of ecological and social psychology focuses on the relationship between social interaction and culture with key aspects of the ecological and societal environment, including broad societal variables such as those shaped by nature (e.g., climate), economics (e.g., wealth), political science (e.g., conflict and governance), or communication (e.g., media). CRESP welcomes careful replication studies, innovative, and creative research that adds new insights to ecological and social psychology. Methods include those common to behavioral and neuroscience, including experimental and quasi-experimental approaches in the field, along with archival, big data, and historical data. The Journal of Experimental Social Psychology (JESP) aims to publish articles that extend or create conceptual advances in social psychology. As the title of the journal indicates, we are focused on publishing primary reports of research in social psychology that use experimental or quasi-experimental methods, although not every study in an article needs to be experimental. We also would like to encourage submissions explaining methodological or statistical considerations that are relevant to the kind of research published here, and that are usable by the typical person who carries out and evaluates social psychology research. Finally, we encourage authors to submit reports of replication studies in experimental social psychology that meet the high standards at JESP (for guidance, see Brandt, IJzerman et al., 2014).Before submitting your paper please review the guidelines hereThe aim of these guidelines is to share with you some criteria that the journal?s editors employ when evaluating manuscripts. The guidelines cannot address all substantive issues, but we do want to emphasize that, unless its methods, theory and evidence are all exceptionally strong, typically one research study leaves many questions unanswered and this is an important reason why papers that include more than one study are preferred by JESP editors.JESP editors start from an attitude that is positive about efforts to advance the field, but rigorous in terms of evaluating evidence supporting a submitted paper?s conclusions. With this attitude in mind the following points may help authors to decide what points to address when preparing their manuscripts for JESP.The guidelines also reflect the editors? experiences with having to reject papers, or engage authors in lengthy and uncertain revisions, for the reasons mentioned below.
