Official Journal of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons The Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (JOMS) is a monthly journal that offers comprehensive coverage of new techniques, important developments, and innovative ideas in oral and maxillofacial surgery. JOMS is the official scientific journal of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery (AACMFS), and the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CAOMS).

Our mission is to curate, shape, and promote excellent scientific research that informs the knowledge base and clinical practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery, and to support the clinical, educational, service, and research activities of AAOMS, AACMFS, and CAOMS members.

We aim to publish the best and most practice-applicable articles for the oral and maxillofacial surgeon, therefore, we accept submissions from all over the world without limitation or prejudice.

Practice-applicable articles help develop the methods and techniques used to manage dentoalveolar surgery, facial trauma, deformities, TMJ disorders, oral cancer, jaw and facial reconstruction, anesthesia, and analgesia. The journal also features innovations including instruments, diagnostic equipment, modern therapeutic drugs, devices, and novel surgical techniques. JOMS is recommended for first or priority subscription by the Dental Section of the Medical Library Association.

JOMS is known for its high evidentiary standards, rigorous peer reviews, and novel subject matter. Our editors will work with authors through multiple iterations to ensure that published manuscripts are high quality and highly citable.

Please see our Guide for Authors for information on article submission.
