Papers on all aspects of cause, mode of action, treatment, protection and prevention, analysis and testing, detoxification, upgrading, commercial implications, biocides and substitutes and related areas are welcome. However, papers that are strictly related to engineering aspects of biotechnological processes and those that aim at developing or assessing mathematical-based predictive models used in the designing of biotechnological processes are excluded. International Journal for Parasitology

  • ISSN: 0020-7519
  • 5 Year impact factor: 3.8
  • Impact factor: 4
Sponsored by the Australian Society for Parasitology The International Journal for Parasitology publishes the results of original research in all aspects of basic and applied parasitology, including all the fields covered by its Specialist Editors, and ranging from parasites and host-parasite relationships of intrinsic biological interest to those of social and economic importance in human and veterinary medicine and agriculture. Original research includes the development of novel and innovative concepts and ideas, as well as experimental and observational science that raises new hypotheses. We do not publish new genome sequences and assemblies alone without new and significant insight into the biology of the parasite, the parasite-host relationship or mechanisms of pathogenesis. Because of its breadth of discipline coverage, the aims and significance of all contributions should be made clear to readers who are not expert in the particular subject of papers. In applied parasitology, it will tend to favour contributions of broader significance to the subject rather than narrow, highly specialised applications. The principal form of publication is the full length paper which contains substantial results from a major program of research. The Journal also provides a medium for the publication of shorter, but complete, papers reporting highly significant original findings, as Succinctus articles. It also publishes Thematic Issues incorporating papers on a topical theme and commissions papers with emphasis on shorter, focussed Reviews of topical issues and strategically important subjects. The Journal encourages critical comment and debate on matters of current controversy in parasitology via "Current Opinions". Benefits to authors We also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Please click here for more information on our author services .Please see our Guide for Authors for information on article submission. If you require any further information or help, please visit our Support Center The International Journal for Parasitology has also launched two specialist, open access titles you are welcome to submit to: International Journal for Parasitology: Parasites and Wildlife International Journal for Parasitology: Drugs and Drug Resistance

  • 5 Year impact factor: 7.8
  • Impact factor: 8.2
Structure, Function and Interactions International Journal of Biological Macromolecules is an established international journal of research into chemical and biological aspects of all natural macromolecules. It presents the latest findings of studies on the molecular structure and properties of proteins, macromolecular carbohydrates, glycoproteins, proteoglycans, lignins, biological poly-acids, and nucleic acids. These findings must be new and novel rather than a repeat of earlier or analogous published work. The scope includes biological activities and interactions, molecular associations, chemical and biological modifications, and functional properties. Papers on related model systems, structural conformational studies, theoretical developments and new analytical techniques are also welcome. All papers are required to focus primarily on at least one named biological macromolecule. This naming should appear in the title, the abstract and the text of the paper. Examples of papers which are not appropriate for International Journal of Biological Macromolecules include: papers where the biological macromolecule has not been characterized by modern analytical techniques (including molecular weight) rather than historical methods. e.g. colorimetric assays. papers which focus on biological, physiological and pharmacological aspects of non-macromolecules attached to, or mixed with, biological macromolecules. papers on the materials science of biocomposites where there is no mention of any specific biological macromolecule. papers where the structure or role of the biological macromolecule is not the major proportion of the study. routine studies of extraction of macromolecules without purification and characterization of the extracted molecule. applications of macromolecules where the structure of the macromolecule is completely unknown. papers where the molecular weight of the biological molecule is less than five thousand. paper which are majorly about clinical studies and animal trials, where a biological macromolecule is not the biologically active agent, and/or the biological macromolecule is not the major focus of the study.

Within this scope, topics of specific interest include: (1) incidence and types of food and beverage microorganisms, microbial interactions, microbial ecology of foods, intrinsic and extrinsic factors affecting microbial survival and growth in foods, and food spoilage; (2) microorganisms involved in food and beverage fermentations (including probiotics and starter cultures); (3) food safety, indices of the sanitary quality of foods, microbiological quality assurance, biocontrol, microbiological aspects of food preservation and novel preservation techniques, predictive microbiology and microbial risk assessment; (4) foodborne microorganisms of public health significance, and microbiological aspects of foodborne diseases of microbial origin; (5) methods for microbiological and immunological examinations of foods, as well as rapid, automated and molecular methods when validated in food systems; and (6) the biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology of microorganisms as they directly relate to food spoilage, foodborne disease and food fermentations.Papers that do not have a direct food or beverage connection will not be considered for publication. The following examples provide some guide as to the type of papers that will not be admitted to the formal review process (for a more extensive list please refer to the journal’s Guide for Authors: Studies in animal models that determine the responses of probiotic microorganisms in the gastrointestinal tract; Fundamental physiology and gene expression studies of food/ beverage microorganisms, unless they directly relate to the food/ beverage ecosystem; The isolation and characterization of antimicrobial substances such as essential oils, bacteriocins etc, unless their efficacy is tested and validated in the food/beverage ecosystem; Development of new methods for the analysis of microorganisms, unless the method is tested and validated in the food/beverage ecosystem. This journal also publishes special issues of selected, peer-reviewed papers from suitable meetings, workshops, conferences, etc, related to the field of food microbiology.

International Journal of Medical Microbiology

  • ISSN: 1438-4221
  • 5 Year impact factor: 3.5
  • Impact factor: 4.1
International Journal of Medical Microbiology (IJMM) is a fully Gold Open Access journal. Authors who publish in IJMM will be able to make their work immediately, permanently, and freely accessible. Pathogen genome sequencing projects have provided a wealth of data that need to be set in context to pathogenicity and the outcome of infections. In addition, the interplay between a pathogen and its host cell has become increasingly important to understand and interfere with diseases caused by microbial pathogens. IJMM meets these needs by focussing on genome and proteome analyses, studies dealing with the molecular mechanisms of pathogenicity and the evolution of pathogenic agents, the interactions between pathogens and host cells ("cellular microbiology"), and molecular epidemiology. More recently, IJMM now welcomes virological submissions. To help the reader keeping up with the rapidly evolving new findings in the field of medical microbiology, IJMM publishes original articles, case studies and topical, state-of-the-art mini-reviews in a well balanced fashion. All articles are strictly peer-reviewed. Special Issues are welcome on important and emerging topics. In addition, at irregular intervals, current opinions on recent or future developments in medical microbiology are presented in an editorial section.
