In the era of ever-growing popularity of video communications, we cannot rely only on the written form of scholarly publication. Videos are more engaging and more memorable. A scientific content presented in a video format attracts more attention, is richer in content and prompts sharing. We aim to use this powerful medium to offer a more compelling presentation of scientific findings to the interested audience.
Science Talks is an Open Access video journal that publishes peer-reviewed scientific talks, tutorials and news and views from experts in the field. The journal is open to submissions from all areas of mathematical and physical sciences, engineering, medical, biological sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Videos are accompanied by a manuscript that includes an abstract, selection of figures, tables and references presented in the video as well as the video transcript. Science Talks will provide the video transcript in English for all published videos in the journal.
Science Talks publications consist of Reviews, Tutorials and News and Views on state-of-the-art science topics.
-Review videos are presented by leading scientists as 30-minute presentations. The papers have a balance of scientific literature and discussion and present the authors' opinion about the outlook and possible challenges.
-Tutorials are 15-minute lectures on critical techniques in emerging topics in science.
-News and Views are 2-minute videos with proper illustrations providing a quick communication about scientific news and emerging topics to a wide range of audience.
Transcript translation: Science Talks invites experts in the field with complete knowledge of both English and a second language to translate the video transcripts. The transcripts will be peer-reviewed and published. Both the translator and reviewer will be acknowledged on the transcript page.
