Sont ensuite abordés, les différents types de prothèses à utiliser, hémiarthroplasties ou prothèses totales, en fonction de la pathologie, et les éventuels problèmes chirurgicaux spécifiques. En effet, les problématiques ne sont pas les mêmes pour les prothèses anatomiques, les prothèses de resurfaçage, les prothèses de fractures ou les prothèses d'épaule inversées. Une grande partie de cet ouvrage est consacrée aux résultats des prothèses en fonction de l'étiologie et du type d'implant. En effet, que faire pour traiter une épaule arthrosique, rhumatoïde ou bien lors d'une ostéonécrose avasculaire ?
