Es de destacar su gran homogeneidad tanto en su organización como en la estructura de cada uno de los capítulos en los que se presentan numerosos elementos didácticos. Esta edición ha sido prologada por el Profesor Jesús Hernández Falcón, docente del Dpto de Fisiología de la Facultad de Medicina de la  UNAM. La obra tiene acceso s StudentConsult.com en el que entre los numerosos recursos didácticos incluye las "online-only notes", un material que solo puede encontrarse online consistente en información complementaria a la que se ofrece en el texto, en forma de "apuntes". En esta 3ª ed se incluyen 750 "online-only notes", y cada una de ellas se señaliza en el texto con un pequeño icono. Incluye también un banco de videos de procesos fisiológicos muy didácticos y explicativos.
