Virology Reports is discontinued as of June 2017. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the authors, referees, and editors who contributed to the journal. Published papers will remain available on ScienceDirect. Interested authors are invited to submit their research to Virology. Another option is Heliyon, an open access journal from Elsevier publishing quality research across all disciplines. For more information, please visit http://www.heliyon.com/about.

Virology Reports was a peer-reviewed open access journal that welcomed short reports and research articles on research in virology, from molecular virology to virus ecology, evolution and phylogenetics, including novel virus full sequences (draft genomes with >50% coverage were also considered), virome shot-gun data when appropriate (e.g., from unique environments), discovery of drug targets, and manuscripts that describe novel methods and reagents. We offered authors a home for their short communication or full-length article. Our aim was to provide a platform for the virology community to publish results independently of novelty and impact, including when novel virus sequences were discovered but of which the importance for plant, animal and public health was not yet elucidated.
