ISES is an UN-accredited membership-based NGO founded in 1954. For over 60 years, ISES members from more than 100 countries have undertaken the product research and development that has helped the renewable energy industry to grow. ISES serves as a center for information on research and development in solar energy through its publications and key activities such as annual technical conferences, a free webinar series and dedicated student programmes. The ISES vision statement is: 100% renewable energy for everyone used wisely and efficiently.
The journal covers research on integrated solar energy systems and their applications, optimised solar energy solutions and energy storage, hybrid energy systems including mini- and micro-power systems. Moreover, the Journal welcomes articles related to research and development in direct and indirect solar energy utilization, with special focus on new materials and technologies to improve the efficiency of applications, solar energy integration in buildings and urban environment, and integration with smart electricity and thermal grids and microgrids, district heating and cooling grids. Aspects of solar energy measurements, assessments, monitoring protocols, sensors, smart operation and controls, solar energy data analytics, artificial intelligence in solar energy systems and forecasting are included.
The Journal aims at further developing a cross sectoral approach in solar energy and sustainable development by exploiting the social aspects of solar energy, social engagement in solar energy applications, low-income and energy poverty, solar energy fair access and social justice.
Furthermore the journal focuses on solar energy and climate change challenges, solar energy technologies in decarbonisation, climate neutrality, solar energy systems for addressing resilience, vulnerability and adaptive capacity. Aspects of the impact on policy legislation and governance, new governance models, solar rights, legislation and planning processes for long term solar access (the "right to light") are also considered. Solar energy markets and economy, advanced business models for solar energy market, circular economy, investments and financial assessment of solar energy applications, life cycle assessment and costs are welcome in this context.
