The Journal publishes high quality, peer-reviewed scientific papers pertaining to the South American region including Mexico, Central America, The Caribbean and The Antarctic Peninsula and they must have a regional appeal and should present work of a more than local significance. Geological research papers dealing with the regional geology and basin analyses of South American cratons and mobile belts, within the following research fields, will be considered:

  • Economic geology, metallogenesis and hydrocarbon genesis and reservoirs

  • Geophysics, geochemistry, volcanology, igneous and metamorphic petrology

  • Tectonics, neo- and seismotectonics, geodynamic modelling, structure and basin evolution

  • Geomorphology, hydrology, watershed, geological hazards, environmental geology

  • Stratigraphy and sedimentology

  • Paleontology, paleoecology, paleoclimatology and Quaternary geology

Papers must have international appeal and should present work of a more regional versus local significance and deal with well-identified and justified scientific questions. Dedicated technical papers, analytical and/or exploration reports must be avoided. Papers on applied geology should preferably be linked to such core disciplines and must be addressed to a more general geoscientific audience.
