Anita Pandey
Anita Pandey is Professor of Biotechnology at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, India, with over 35 years of expertise in bioprospecting microbial biodiversity of the Indian Himalayan Region. Her research focuses on extremophiles, rhizosphere microbiology, biodegradation, fermented foods, water microbes, and antimicrobials. Prior to joining Graphic Era, she served as Scientist ‘G’ and Head at the G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment and earlier at CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology. She has supervised 27 PhD scholars (19 completed, 8 ongoing) and 45 MSc dissertations. Dr. Pandey has twice served as Host Scientist under the CV Raman International Fellowship for African Researchers. Her honors include the National Young Woman Bioscientist Award, Vishisht Mahila Vaigyanik Sammaan, ICFRE Award for Environment Conservation, and the Lifetime Devotion Award (2025). With over 175 publications, she is recognized internationally, including recognition as the Principal Focal Person for Himalayan University Consortium by ICIMOD, and has a microbial species, Nantronococcus pandeyae, named in her honor.
