NanoPDT: Nanomaterials-Enhanced Photodynamic Therapy covers extensively the therapeutic potential of multifunctional nanosystems that has made so much progress within the biomedical and pharmaceutical research communities over recent decades. Traditional photodynamic therapy (PDT), however, faces several limitations, primarily due to the hydrophobic nature of photosensitizers (PS), which tend to aggregate in aqueous environments, resulting in inadequate biodistribution and limited bioavailability. These constraints significantly reduce the efficacy of photodynamic therapy. The book also explores the most relevant combination therapies available. Four chapters are dedicated to the combination of NanoPDT with other approaches like Immunotherapy, Radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and photothermal therapy.
NanoPDT: Nanomaterials-Enhanced Photodynamic Therapy is an essential resource for pharmaceutical researchers, clinicians, and students in the fields of nanomedicine, oncology, and photodynamic therapy. It offers a thorough exploration of the latest advancements and future directions, providing valuable insights for those looking to enhance the efficacy and specificity of PDT through nanotechnology and its combined applications. The book's comprehensive coverage of both oncological and non-oncological applications makes it a crucial addition to the literature, bridging the gap between fundamental research and clinical practice.

Christiani Andrade Amorim
Dr. Amorim holds a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in animal reproduction. For the past 20 years she has worked with follicles from a whole range of mammalian species. Initially, I focused on domestic animals, developing projects to safeguard native breeds from Brazil and Italy through the establishment of cryopreservation procedures for isolated follicles and ovarian tissue. Since 2007 I have been working with human preantral follicles. Her major goal is to create a transplantable artificial ovary to restore fertility in cancer patients. Additionally, she conduct studies on ovarian tissue characterization, cryopreservation and xenotransplantation.
