He received his PhD in Entomology from Auburn University investigating the ecology of mosquito-borne viruses in Alabama. His research focuses on the ecology of the arthropods that transmit pathogens affecting human and wildlife health. Dr. Burkett-Cadena is the author or co-author of approximately 140 peer-reviewed articles related to medically important arthropods and the pathogens that they transmit. He is also author of the book Mosquitoes of the Southeastern United States (2013, University of Alabama Press).
