Victor E. Kappeler
Victor E. Kappeler, a former police officer, is a Foundation Professor and Associate Dean of the School of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University. He is recognized as a leading scholar in such fields as policing, media, and the social construction of crime, and police civil liability, among other related fields. Dr. Kappeler continues to provide in-service training for police officers and is well published in professional areas of policing. Among many other honors, Kappeler received the 2006 Cabinet for Justice and Public Safety Award for Academic Excellence and the 2005 Outstanding Criminal Justice Alumnus Award from Sam Houston State University, where he earned his doctoral degree, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Criminology’s Division on Critical Criminology.

Matthew Yeager
Matthew G. Yeager has been a criminologist for forty (40) years, obtaining his bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1972 (Phi Beta Kappa). His master’s degree is in criminal justice from the State University of New York at Albany (1975) and his doctorate in sociology from Carleton University (2006), Ottawa, Canada. He is the author of over thirty (30) articles and studies covering topics as diverse as offender recidivism, state crime, and organized crime to historical studies, including an article on Tannenbaum which was published in 2011.
He is currently associate professor of sociology at King’s University College at the University of Western Ontario, located in London, Ontario. He is also considered an expert on the Freedom of Information Act, and litigates cases in Canada as well as represents convicts in prison before paroling authorities. Recently, he participated as an Amicus Curiae in SEC v. CITIGROUP (No. 11-5227), a major securities fraud case currently on appeal to the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
