International Journal of Cognitive Computing in Engineering

  • ISSN: 2666-3074
Cognitive computing is the creation of self-learning systems that use data mining, pattern recognition and natural language processing (NLP) to solve complicated problems without constant human oversight. It is a field that is highly transdisciplinary in nature, combining ideas, principles and methods of psychology, computer and internet technologies, linguistics, philosophy, neuroscience, etc. The goal of the International Journal of Cognitive Computing in Engineering is to explore how these data science technologies and new cognitive methods can be integrated to address real world engineering problems and challenges. For example, the journal welcomes submissions that look at the opportunities offered by combining existing data technologies with the knowledge of experts in the field and artificial intelligence. One of the benefits of cognitive computing is that it offers new analytics opportunities: the journal also welcomes designs for cognitive embedded data technologies that can process and analyse the large amount of data generated and aid decision-making. Submissions on a variety of cognitive computing-related topics will be considered.

International Journal of Forecasting

  • ISSN: 0169-2070
  • 5 Year impact factor: 6.2
  • Impact factor: 7.9
Official Publication of the International Institute of Forecasters The International Journal of Forecasting is the leading journal in its field. It is the official publication of the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF) and shares its aims and scope. More information about the IIF may be found at https://www.forecasters.org. The International Journal of Forecasting publishes high quality refereed papers covering all aspects of forecasting. Its objective (and that of the IIF) is to unify the field, and to bridge the gap between theory and practice, making forecasting useful and relevant for decision and policy makers. The journal places strong emphasis on empirical studies, evaluation activities, implementation research and ways of improving the practice of forecasting. It is open to many points of view and encourages debate to find solutions for problems facing the field. Topics covered in the International Journal of Forecasting: • Economic and econometric forecasting • Marketing forecasting • New products forecasting • Financial forecasting • Production forecasting • Technological forecasting • Forecasting applications in business, government, and the military • Demographic forecasting • Energy forecasting • Climate forecasting • Crime forecasting • Seasonal adjustments and forecasting • Time series forecasting • Legal and political aspects of forecasting • Implementation of forecasting • Judgmental/psychological aspects of forecasting • Impact of forecast uncertainty on decision making • Organizational aspects of forecasting • Sport forecasting • Machine Learning forecasting • Forecasting methodology • Election forecasting • Big data forecasting Features of the IJF include research papers, research notes, discussion articles, book reviews, editorials and letters. Data and computer programs associated with articles published in the International Journal of Forecasting are provided as online supplements on ScienceDirect. Objectivity To ensure fairness and objectivity, double-blind reviewing will be used. Replication studies The IJF encourages replication studies, especially of highly cited papers. See Encouraging replication and reproducible research (an editorial published in 2010) for further information. A replication study that confirms that a published paper can be successfully replicated would normally be quite short (about a page is often sufficient to describe what calculations and comparisons have been done). Where a previously published paper has not been successfully replicated, more details are required to explain how the results differ from those previously published.

The International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics provides a specific medium for dissemination of high-quality research results in the various areas of theoretical, applied, and experimental mechanics of solids, fluids, structures, and systems where the phenomena are inherently non-linear. The journal brings together original results in elasticity, plasticity, dynamics, vibrations, wave-propagation, rheology, fluid-structure interaction systems, stability, biomechanics, micro- and nano-structures, materials, metamaterials, and in other diverse areas. Papers may be analytical, computational or experimental in nature. Treatments of non-linear differential equations wherein solutions and properties of solutions are emphasized but physical aspects are not adequately relevant, will not be considered for possible publication. Both deterministic and stochastic approaches are fostered. Contributions pertaining to both established and emerging fields are encouraged.

Journal of Algebra

  • ISSN: 0021-8693
  • 5 Year impact factor: 0.9
  • Impact factor: 0.9
The Journal of Algebra is a leading international journal and publishes papers that demonstrate high quality research results in algebra and related computational aspects. Only the very best and most interesting papers are to be considered for publication in the journal. With this in mind, it is important that the contribution offer a substantial result that will have a lasting effect upon the field. The journal also seeks work that presents innovative techniques that offer promising results for future research. The Computational Algebra Section The Computational Algebra section has been introduced to provide an appropriate forum for contributions which make use of computer calculations and to broaden the scope of the Journal. The following papers are particularly welcome in the Computational Algebra section of the Journal of Algebra: • Results obtained by computer calculations - to be suitable for publication such results must represent a major advance of mathematics. It is not sufficient to extend previous computations by means of higher computer power. Rather the contribution has to exhibit new methods and mathematical results to be accepted. • Classifications of specific algebraic structures (in form of tables, if appropriate), which are not easily obtained and are useful to the algebraic community. • Description and outcome of experiments, to put forward new conjectures, to support existing conjectures, or to give counter examples to existing conjectures. • Papers emphasizing the constructive aspect of algebra, such as description and analysis of new algorithms (not program listings, nor, in the first instance, discussions of software development issues), improvements and extensions of existing algorithms, description of computational methods which are not algorithms in the strict sense (since, e.g., they need not terminate). • Interactions between algebra and computer science, such as automatic structures, word problems and other decision problems in groups and semigroups, preferably, but not necessarily, with an emphasis on practicality, implementations, and performance of the related algorithms. • Contributions are welcome from all areas of algebra, including algebraic geometry or algebraic number theory, if the emphasis is on the algebraic aspects. Contributions describing applications of algebraic results or methods, for example in coding theory, cryptography, or the algebraic theory of differential equations are highly welcome. An important general criterion for the publication of a paper in the Computational Algebra section is its emphasis on the constructive aspects. This journal has an Open Archive. All published items, including research articles, have unrestricted access and will remain permanently free to read and download 48 months after publication. All papers in the Archive are subject to Elsevier's user license.

Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A

  • ISSN: 0097-3165
  • 5 Year impact factor: 1.2
  • Impact factor: 1.1
The Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A publishes original mathematical research concerned with theoretical and practical aspects of combinatorics in all branches of science. The journal is primarily concerned with finite and discrete structures, designs, finite geometries, codes, combinatorics with number theory, combinatorial games, extremal combinatorics, combinatorics of storage, and other important theory/applications of combinatorics. It is a valuable tool for mathematicians and computer scientists, and for scientists working in information theory. As one of the premier journals in these areas, the journal sets very high standards for publication. Manuscripts accepted by the journal are generally expected to solve or make a significant step towards a solution of an important open problem, to develop a new proof technique, or to substantially advance our knowledge in some other way. The journal imposes even higher standards for accepting very long papers. Survey papers are in general not considered, unless they are of exceptionally high quality, dealing with a fundamentally important and trending topic in combinatorics. Only papers which are well-written and appear to be within these high standards will proceed to a phase of review which involves a detailed refereeing process.
