Rahul Mirlekar, MSc, PhD, received a Master’s in Microbiology from Shivaji University and PhD from The National Center for Cell Science. Dr. Mirlekar is an immunologist with a deep, long-lasting interest in how the immune response shapes cancer and cancer-related diseases. Currently, he is a scientist in the Department of Pathology at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Research interests include cancer immunology, immunotherapy, immune cells and cytokines in cancer, epigenetics, and immune-based medicines. His latest research focuses on emphasizing the tumor-associated immune populations and cytokines that regulate anti-tumor immunity in solid tumors and hematological malignancies, with developing new immune-based therapy options for these deadly malignancies. Dr. Mirlekar currently serves as editorial board member and reviewer for several peer-reviewed immunology and cancer journals, including Frontiers in Immunology, Molecular Immunology, and Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, and is a section editor at Biomedicines Journal for a special edition on “Immunotherapy for Pancreatic Cancer.”
