Biomass, Biofuels and Bioproducts Algal Research is an international phycology journal covering all areas of emerging technologies in algae biology, biomass production, cultivation, harvesting, extraction, bioproducts, biorefinery, engineering, and econometrics. Algae is defined to include cyanobacteria, microalgae, macroalgae, and protists and symbionts of interest in biotechnology. The journal publishes original research and reviews for the following scope: algal biology, including but not exclusive to: phylogeny, biodiversity, molecular traits, metabolic regulation, and genetic engineering, algal cultivation, e.g. phototrophic systems, heterotrophic systems, and mixotrophic systems, algal harvesting and extraction systems, biotechnology to convert algal biomass and components into biofuels and bioproducts, e.g., nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, animal feed, plastics, etc. algal products and their economic assessment Papers in the latter topics should include characterization and analysis in support of such processes and technologies, for example:approaches to biorefinery and biomass characterization, sustainability assessments and analyses, such as techno-economic, life cycle, and resource assessments of systems and processes using algae as a main source of biomass. The journal will not consider manuscripts where the core concept is the experimental design (RSM, CCD or other) in the opitmization of a process, or the biological activity of algae extracts without full characterization and identification of the compounds responsible for the bioactivity. Annals of Nuclear Energy provides an international medium for the communication of original research, ideas and developments in all areas of the field of nuclear energy science and technology. Its scope embraces nuclear fuel reserves, fuel cycles and cost, materials, processing, system and component technology (fission only), design and optimization, direct conversion of nuclear energy sources, environmental control, reactor physics, heat transfer and fluid dynamics, structural analysis, fuel management, future developments, nuclear fuel and safety, nuclear aerosol, neutron physics, computer technology (both software and hardware), risk assessment, radioactive waste disposal and reactor thermal hydraulics. Papers submitted to Annals need to demonstrate a clear link to nuclear power generation/nuclear engineering. Papers which deal with pure nuclear physics, pure health physics, imaging, or attenuation and shielding properties of concretes and various geological materials are not within the scope of the journal. Heat, Power and Process A sister journal of Progress in Energy and Combustion Science Applications in Energy and Combustion Science provides a forum for information on research, development, and innovation in areas relevant to applications using combustion and other forms of chemical energy conversion. The journal targets contributions to the generalizable understanding that can be gained from studies of applications and devices, and articulations of the transition of fundamental understanding to design, improvement, and integration of actual applications and devices. Applications in Energy and Combustion Science is also concerned with relevant fuels research, unconventional chemical energy conversion systems, aftertreatment, system and life-cycle analysis, and aspects of energy policy. Authors are specifically encouraged to submit manuscripts bridging the gaps between fundamental research and application while addressing these topics. The journal publishes short communications, full length original research articles, and review articles. The review articles are by invitation of the editors only. A Journal of IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic Control Automatica is a leading archival publication in the field of systems and control. The field encompasses today a broad set of areas and topics, and is thriving not only within itself but also in terms of its impact on other fields, such as communications, computers, biology, energy and economics. Since its inception in 1963, Automatica has kept abreast with the evolution of the field over the years, and has emerged as a leading publication driving the trends in the field. After being founded in 1963, Automatica became a journal of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) in 1969. It features a characteristic blend of theoretical and applied papers of archival, lasting value, reporting cutting edge research results by authors across the globe. It features articles in distinct categories, including regular, brief and survey papers, technical communiqués, correspondence items, as well as reviews on published books of interest to the readership. It occasionally publishes special issues on emerging new topics or established mature topics of interest to a broad audience. Automatica solicits original high-quality contributions in all the categories listed above, and in all areas of systems and control interpreted in a broad sense and evolving constantly. They may be submitted directly to a subject editor or to the Editor-in-Chief if not sure about the subject area. Editorial procedures in place assure careful, fair, and prompt handling of all submitted articles. Accepted papers appear in the journal in the shortest time feasible given production time constraints. Biomass & Bioenergy is an international journal publishing original research papers and short communications, review articles and case studies on biological resources, chemical and biological processes, and biomass products for new renewable sources of energy and materials. The scope of the journal extends to the environmental, management and economic aspects of biomass and bioenergy. Key areas covered by the journal: • Biomass: sources, energy crop production processes, genetic improvements, composition. Please note that research on these biomass subjects must be linked directly to bioenergy generation. • Biological Residues: residues/rests from agricultural production, forestry and plantations (palm, sugar etc), processing industries, and municipal sources (MSW). Papers on the use of biomass residues through innovative processes/technological novelty and/or consideration of feedstock/system sustainability (or unsustainability) are welcomed. However waste treatment processes and pollution control or mitigation which are only tangentially related to bioenergy are not in the scope of the journal, as they are more suited to publications in the environmental arena. Papers that describe conventional waste streams (ie well described in existing literature) that do not empirically address 'new' added value from the process are not suitable for submission to the journal. • Bioenergy Processes: fermentations, thermochemical conversions, liquid and gaseous fuels, and petrochemical substitutes • Bioenergy Utilization: direct combustion, gasification, electricity production, chemical processes, and by-product remediation • Biomass and the Environment: carbon cycle, the net energy efficiency of bioenergy systems, assessment of sustainability, and biodiversity issues. Bioresource Technology Reports is an online-only rapid-publication journal focused on the fundamentals, applications and management of bioresource technology. Like its companion journal, Bioresource Technology, Bioresource Technology Reports' mission is to advance and disseminate knowledge in all the related areas of bioenergy, biotransformations and bioresource systems analysis, and technologies associated with conversion or production. Bioresource Technology Reports publishes original articles, review articles, case studies and short communications. Alongside welcoming direct submissions, the journal will benefit from an Article Transfer Service which will allow the author(s) to transfer their manuscript online from Bioresource Technology thus saving authors time and effort spent on formatting and resubmitting. Papers may be suggested for transfer from Bioresource Technology to Bioresource Technology Reports if they have a very strong applied element or are more focussed on a particular area. Carbon Resources Conversion (CRC) publishes fundamental studies and industrial developments regarding relevant technologies aiming for the clean, efficient, value-added, and low-carbon utilization of carbon-containing resources as fuel for energy and as feedstock for materials or chemicals from, for example, fossil fuels, biomass, syngas, CO2, hydrocarbons, and organic wastes via physical, thermal, chemical, biological, and other technical methods. CRC also publishes scientific and engineering studies on resource characterization and pretreatment, carbon material innovation and production, clean technologies related to carbon resource conversion and utilization, and various process-supporting technologies, including on-line or off-line measurement and monitoring, modeling, simulations focused on safe and efficient process operation and control, and process and equipment optimization.
