Lawrence B. Cahoon
Dr. Lawrence Cahoon is Distinguished Teaching Professor of Biology & Marine Biology at UNC Wilmington, serving since 1982, and specializes in biological oceanography and limnology. Research interests have focused on sediment-water column interactions, particularly microphytobenthos and demersal zooplankton ecology, across aquatic ecosystems, including US coastal ocean sites from Florida to Cape Cod Bay, and in New Zealand, as well as in freshwater and estuarine ecosystems. Publications include over 100 peer-reviewed papers, a chapter in a ‘competitor’ symposium volume described below, a 1999 review article about microphytobenthos, and guest editorships of two peer-reviewed symposium volumes. Dr. Cahoon regularly reviews manuscripts for many journals as well as research proposals submitted for federal funding.
