Human Movement Sciences for Allied Health Professionals

The aim of this book is to bridge the gap between theory and practice within a single text aimed at higher education allied health courses. The scope of the text is that of human movement sciences as they would be applied in a clinical allied health context. Areas including: Biomechanics, Exercise Prescription., Motor Control, Pain, Physiology, Psychology and Skill Acquisition would be introduced via a theoretical framework with the addition of clinical commentary from allied health professionals. The intent of this commentary is an immediate connection between theory and the clinic with a view to answering the questions of “why am I learning this?” alongside “how can I use this?”. These last questions are at the heart of this text. With a combined 25+ years of working in tertiary education and in industry, the editorial team of Dr. Downie and Ms Cleary believe that there is no other book currently that meets this combination of theory and immediate practical understanding. We feel this would be an incredibly valuable learning tool for the audience, and a similarly useful teaching tool for faculty.
