This volume presents the entire proceedings of the Small System Alternatives conference. The conference brought together practitioners, regulatory personnel, and researchers from six countries. Discussions concerned all aspects of design, construction and operation of small systems for the provision and treatment of drinking water. Information on both existing and emerging technologies was presented, examining state-of-the-art small drinking water systems and exploring possible future directions. The program included 21 oral and 6 poster presentations, and concluded with a panel discussion on problems and solutions. There was particular attention paid to operation of systems in cold climates in remote and semi-remote areas.
