Resources Policy
The International Journal of Minerals Policy and EconomicsResources Policy is an international journal devoted to the economics and policy issues related to mineral and fossil fuel extraction, production and use. The journal content is aimed at individuals in academia, government, and industry. Submissions of original research are invited that analyze issues of public policy, economics, social science, geography and finance in the areas of mining, non-fuel minerals, energy minerals, fossil fuels and metals.Examples of topics covered in the broad discipline of mineral economics include mineral market and price analysis, project evaluation, mining and sustainable development, mineral resource rents and the resource curse, mineral wealth and corruption, mineral taxation and regulation, strategic minerals and their supply, and the impact of mineral development on local communities and/or indigenous populations.Submissi... are also invited on related natural resource topics of interest and importance to the minerals and fossil fuel community, such as sustainability, topics from environmental economics related to mineral production and use, and socio-economic impacts of mineral production and use.The journal DOES NOT publish papers whose primary focus is on agriculture, forestry or fisheries. We aim to publish robust scientific work, so methods should be carefully described and data properly cited. Literature reviews are accepted as long as they provide meaningful insights and a clear contribution to the literature. Case studies are also accepted as long as they contribute to the debate and comprehension of issues of broader significance. Discussion and debate-focused articles without a significant research component are generally not accepted, but they could be considered at the discretion of the Editors.Original research articles (generally 6,000–10,000 words, including references) published in Resources Policy are expected to make a clear and original scholarly contribution to debates in mineral economics, natural resource governance, and resource-related public policy. Such articles should be structured around a clearly articulated research question or analytical puzzle and demonstrate methodological transparency and rigour, whether drawing on qualitative interviews, document and policy analysis, case studies, or quantitative data. Contributions may advance or refine conceptual or theoretical frameworks, introduce new empirical insights, or offer systematic comparative analysis, but they should move beyond descriptive accounts to provide analytically grounded and policy-relevant findings.Perspective... (generally 4,000–6,000 words, including references) offer shorter, more interpretive contributions that engage directly with contemporary issues shaping resource policy and mineral governance. These papers are intended to be agenda-setting rather than exhaustive, and may critically examine emerging concepts, dominant narratives, policy shifts, geopolitical developments, or market disruptions relevant to the resources sector. While Perspectives are afforded greater flexibility in scope, method, and tone than full research articles, arguments should remain analytically grounded, clearly structured, and situated within relevant literatures, with the aim of stimulating informed debate among scholars, policymakers, and practitioners.- ISSN: 0301-4207

Journal of Comparative Economics
Published on behalf of the Association for Comparative Economic StudiesThe mission of the Journal of Comparative Economics is to lead the new orientations of research in comparative economics. Before 1989, the core of comparative economics was the comparison of economic systems with in particular the economic analysis of socialism in its different forms. In the last fifteen years, the main focus of interest of comparative economists has been the transition from socialism to capitalism. In recent years, mostly as a result of the transition experience, a new orientation of comparative economics has emerged that focuses on the comparison of the economic effects of the various institutions of capitalism, be it in the legal sphere (common law versus civil law), in the political sphere (different types of democracies and electoral regimes) or in the sphere of culture, social norms, etc. This new orientation is a natural development following the very diverse experience of transitions from socialism to capitalism. The transition experience has indeed shown with a vengeance the importance of institutions in the process of economic development.Question... raised along these new orientations include: what institutions are critical (courts, credit markets, good regulations, etc) for successful growth?; how should institutions be measured (subjective surveys, particular laws on the books, etc); why are certain institutions, such as courts and regulatory culture, slow-moving while others, such as constitutions and electoral procedures, relatively fast-moving; why is there so much cross-sectional variance in the quality of institutions, and what kinds of initial conditions or historic natural experiments can be employed to estimate the causal impact of institutions on economic performance? The Journal of Comparative Economics will maintain its tradition of publishing the best papers on the Chinese economy and of being an important outlet for work on economies in Central Europe and the Former Soviet Union; the Journal of Comparative Economics aims to enlarge the interest of the journal to other emerging market economies.- ISSN: 0147-5967

Swarm and Evolutionary Computation
Introduction: To tackle complex real world problems, scientists have been looking into natural processes and creatures - both as model and metaphor - for years. Optimization is at the heart of many natural processes including Darwinian evolution, social group behavior and foraging strategies. Over the last few decades, there has been remarkable growth in the field of nature-inspired search and optimization algorithms. Currently these techniques are applied to a variety of problems, ranging from scientific research to industry and commerce. The two main families of algorithms that primarily constitute this field today are the evolutionary computing methods and the swarm intelligence algorithms. Although both families of algorithms are generally dedicated towards solving search and optimization problems, they are certainly not equivalent, and each has its own distinguishing features. Reinforcing each other's performance makes powerful hybrid algorithms capable of solving many intractable search and optimization problems.About the journal: Swarm and Evolutionary Computation is the first peer-reviewed publication of its kind that aims at reporting the most recent research and developments in the area of nature-inspired intelligent computation based on the principles of swarm and evolutionary algorithms. Special attention is given to methods that have been used by only one particular social science discipline, but that may have application to a broader range of areas with an ultimate goal of testing social science theory.Social Science Research welcomes submissions that significantly advance quantitative research methods. Judgment of significance will be based on three criteria: 1. Whether or not the problem that the author(s) attempts to solve represents a major obstacle in theory testing; 2. How prevalent the problem is across different social science disciplines and research areas; 3. Whether or not the proposed solution is feasible and definitively superior to existing approaches in a wide range of settings.- ISSN: 0049-089X

Journal of Health Economics
The Journal of Health Economics publishes economic analyses that deepen understanding of the value, production or distribution of health or healthcare. It aims to publish original research that advances knowledge in health economics or informs health policy. We welcome submissions that use economic theory or methods to deliver insights into a) value of health, b) economic impact of health, c) health behavior and inequality, d) determinants of health, e) healthcare costs, payments and financing, f) production and innovation in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, g) healthcare and health insurance competition and regulation, or h) economic evaluation of health policies or programs. We encourage submissions examining these topics in any setting, provided results are relevant outside narrow geographic boundaries. We publish papers of any length. There is no separate submission channel for short papers, which are encouraged. Generally, we do not publish a) opinion pieces, b) (systematic) reviews, c) cost-of-illness studies, d) applications of cost-effectiveness, efficiency or discrete-choice analyses without methodological innovation or high-impact evidence, c) time series analyses, and d) epidemiological studies with no economic analysis. A comment on a JHE article will be published only if it makes a substantial contribution by reevaluating results of a high-impact study. The JHE receives around 1200 submissions per year and publishes around 6%. We pre-screen all submissions and desk reject about 75% that a) fall outside our scope, b) use data or methods likely to compromise evidence validity, or c) do not make a substantial contribution. With a high volume of submissions, unfortunately, we cannot give detailed reasons for each desk-reject decision. There is no process to appeal a reject decision. A rejected paper cannot be resubmitted, unless the decision letter specifies conditions under which the paper would be reconsidered. Submission link: https://www.editoria...- ISSN: 0167-6296

Marine Policy
Marine Policy is the leading journal of ocean policy studies. Submissions to Marine Policy must contribute to the formulation and understanding of marine policy, and must be of interest to a broad audience of academics, stakeholders and officials. Marine Policy offers researchers, analysts, stakeholders and policy-makers a unique combination of analyses in the principal social science disciplines relevant to the formulation of marine policy. Articles represent perspectives from fields such as marine affairs, marine economics and resource management, political science, marine science, human ecology, international law, geography, normative theory, anthropology and similar disciplines. Focal areas include, but are not limited to: international, regional and national marine policies; institutional arrangements for the management and regulation of marine activities; conflict resolution; marine pollution and environment; conservation and use of marine resources. We are not a technical journal and will recommend that overly-technical papers are transferred to other more relevant journals. We will consider policy papers that do include a technical analysis, but only if this directly informs a policy analysis or discussion. We request that authors minimise the inclusion of formulas and model details needed to explain the methods and analysis in the main text. Detailed formulae and calculations should be included in an appendix or supplementary materials, and summarised in the main text.Submissions to Marine Policy must include a cover letter that briefly describes the background for the paper and its significance for marine policy formulation and understanding. The cover letter should also note any related work that may be publicly available, such as a Doctoral or Masters thesis, institutional report, etc, so as to avoid any misunderstandings regarding plagiarism. The cover letter should also note any ethics processes and considerations if your study included field research, human research (i.e interviews, quantitative or qualitative surveys, ethnographic observations etc) or animal research. The submission must include an abstract of approximately 250 words that is self-contained and readable on its own. The abstract should describe the key content areas, the purpose of the research, its relevance or importance for policy formulation and understanding, the methodology, and the main outcomes. Abstracts should also include the key terms that a potential researcher may use to search. Abstracts allow editors, reviewers and readers to assess whether the paper is relevant to their purpose, and are important to search engines.Regular features of Marine Policy include research reports, conference reports and reports on current developments to keep readers up-to-date with the latest developments and research in ocean affairs.- ISSN: 0308-597X

Decision Support Systems
and Electronic CommerceThe common thread of articles published in Decision Support Systems is their relevance to theoretical and technical issues in the support of enhanced decision making. The areas addressed may include foundations, functionality, interfaces, implementation, impacts, and evaluation of decision support systems (DSSs). Manuscripts may draw from diverse methods and methodologies, including those from decision theory, economics, econometrics, statistics, computer supported cooperative work, data base management, linguistics, management science, mathematical modeling, operations management, cognitive science, psychology, user interface management, and others. However, a manuscript focused on direct contributions to any of these related areas should be submitted to an outlet appropriate to the specific area.Examples of research topics that would be appropriate for Decision Support Systems include the following:1. DSS Foundations e.g. principles, concepts, and theories of enhanced decision making; formal languages and research methods enabling improvements in decision making. It is important that theory validation be carefully addressed.2. DSS Functionality e.g. methods, tools, and techniques for developing thefunctional aspects of enhanced decision making; solver, model, and/or data management in DSSs; rule formulation and management in DSSs; DSS development and use in computer supported cooperative work, negotiation, research and product.3. DSS Interfaces e.g. methods, tools, and techniques for designing and developing DSS interfaces; development, management, and presentation of knowledge in a DSS; coordination of a DSS's interface with its functionality.4. DSS Implementation - experiences in DSS development and utilization; DSS management and updating; DSS instruction/training... A critical consideration must be how specific experiences provide more general implications.5. DSS Evaluation and Impact e.g. evaluation metrics and processes; DSS impact on decision makers, organizational processes and performance.- ISSN: 0167-9236

Cognition
International Journal of Cognitive ScienceCognition is an international journal that publishes theoretical and experimental papers on the study of the mind. It covers a wide variety of subjects concerning all the different aspects of cognition, ranging from experimental studies of behavior and of the brain to formal analysis.Papers will be selected on the basis of their scientific quality, their degree of innovation and their unambiguous theoretical advance to the study of cognition. Paper's overall soundness of the argument and degree of empirical motivation, especially from converging sources, are more important than adherence to specific methodological principles. Studies that selectively focus on the cognitive and neural mechanisms that underlie problems with cognition in clinical populations or on purely methodological questions fall outside the scope of Cognition. Because Cognition enjoys a wide readership from many disciplines, authors should explicitly consider the general theoretical issues raised by their work and its relevance to other topics and methods. Materials should describe work done and methods used in a clear and explicit manner (allowing reproduction of the methods by others).- ISSN: 0010-0277
