    • ISSN: 0933-3657
Artificial Intelligence in Medicine publishes original articles from a wide variety of interdisciplinary perspectives concerning the theory and practice of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine, medically-oriented human biology, and health care.Artificial intelligence in medicine may be characterized as the scientific discipline pertaining to research studies, projects, and applications that aim at supporting decision-based medical tasks through knowledge- and/or data-intensive computer-based solutions that ultimately support and improve the performance of a human care provider.Artificial Intelligence in Medicine considers for publication manuscripts that have both:• Potential high impact in some medical or healthcare domain; • Strong novelty of method and theory related to AI and computer science techniques.Artificia... Intelligence in Medicine papers must refer to real-world medical domains, considered and discussed at the proper depth, from both the technical and the medical points of view. The inclusion of a clinical assessment of the usefulness and potential impact of the submitted work is strongly recommended.Artifici... Intelligence in Medicine is looking for novelty in the methodological and/or theoretical content of submitted papers. Such kind of novelty has to be mainly acknowledged in the area of AI and Computer Science. Methodological papers deal with the proposal of some strategy and related methods to solve some scientific issues in specific domains. They must show, usually through an experimental evaluation, how the proposed methodology can be applied to medicine, medically-oriented human biology, and health care, respectively. They have also to provide a comparison with other proposals, and explicitly discuss elements of novelty. Theoretical papers focus on more fundamental, general and formal topics of AI and must show the novel expected effects of the proposed solution in some medical or healthcare field.Following the information explosion brought by the diffusion of Internet, social networks, cloud computing, and big-data platforms, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine has broadened its perspective. Particular attention is given to novel research work pertaining to:AI-based clinical decision making;Medical knowledge engineering;Knowledg... and agent-based systems;Computationa... intelligence in bio- and clinical medicine;Intelligent and process-aware information systems in healthcare and medicine;Natural language processing in medicine;Data analytics and mining for biomedical decision support;New computational platforms and models for biomedicine;Intellig... exploitation of heterogeneous data sources aimed at supporting decision-based and data-intensive clinical tasks;Intelligent devices and instruments;Automate... reasoning and meta-reasoning in medicine;Machine learning in medicine, medically-oriented human biology, and healthcare;AI and data science in medicine, medically-oriented human biology, and healthcare;AI-based modeling and management of healthcare pathways and clinical guidelines;Models and systems for AI-based population health;AI in medical and healthcare education;Methodolog... philosophical, ethical, and social issues of AI in healthcare, medically-oriented human biology, and medicine. If you are considering submitting to Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, make sure that your paper meets the quality requirements mentioned above. English exposition must also be clear and revised with due care. Authors are kindly requested to revise their manuscripts with the help of co-authors that are fluent in English or language editing services before submitting their contribution. Papers written in poor English are likely to be rejected. The mere application of well-known or already published algorithms and techniques to medical data is not regarded as original research work of interest for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, but it may be suitable for other venues.Artificial Intelligence in Medicine features the following kinds of papers:Original research contributions: Theoretical and/or methodological papers about novel approaches;Methodolo... reviews/surveys: Papers that collect, classify, describe, and critically analyze research designs, methods and procedures;Position papers: Papers that gather, describe, and analyze the scientific challenges of a specific field, founding them on the related literature;Editorial... Editors will occasionally publish editorials;Guest editorials: Editors can invite guest editors of special issues to publish editorials. Unsolicited editorials will not be considered;Letters to the editor: Letters from readers shortly discussing and commenting on a topic of interest, for example based on recently published articles in the journal Artificial Intelligence in Medicine;Book reviews: A critical review of recently published books;Erratum: Some specific corrections to results previously published in the journal Artificial Intelligence in Medicine;Historical perspectives: Papers that describe and critically review some specific aspects in the history of scientific contributions and applications; In memoriam: Papers describing the life and the main scientific contributions of scientists passed away, having had an important role in the area of artificial intelligence in medicine;PhD projects: Early publications about more recent research trends, having the goal of allowing PhD candidates to explain their PhD research project and to share it with other scientists interested in the topic. Aquatic Toxicology does not publish articles that focus on the health of aquaculture organisms associated with aquaculture practices, unless these studies enhance our understanding of the potential effects of chemical stressors associated with aquaculture (e.g. pesticides use, water quality degradation) on aquatic organisms and/or ecosystems. Aquatic Toxicology does not consider articles that focus on monitoring the presence of chemicals in the environment unless these studies further investigate the impacts of the chemicals on aquatic organisms and/or ecological systems. Furthermore, studies that characterize the potential risks of contaminated fish or other aquatic food products on humans or livestock are outside of the scope of the journal.

  • IFAC Journal of Systems and Control

    • ISSN: 2468-6018
A journal of IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic ControlIFAC Journal of Systems & Control publishes significant, previously unpublished, and high-quality research papers containing generalizable, extensible and transferable innovations across all aspects of the field of control and automation. The Journal has considerable interest in multi-, cross-, and trans- disciplinary research from control and systems theory to their application, including articles where the novelty is in the linkages between and across fields. These works need not be novel in a single focus area, but show significant impact and novelty in the combination and extension across multiple areas. They often explore new areas of theory and/or (especially) application at the boundary of systems and control enabling new viewpoints, insight, high/new impact, and/or techniques.A major requirement for publication is for articles to clearly state:• Novelty and Context: The novelty of the article and/or its novel elements relative to a large field of work and/or its disciplines of application. • Impact and Insight: The potential impact and insight created by the work in the relevant fields • Validation: The clear validation of their results in comparison to other results in the field, and/or experimental test results by the authors and/or other works.Papers should clearly express all these aspects in (each/all of) the Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions sections of the article.Further, the journal requires papers be in a standard format structure of major sections in the order: Abstract – Introduction – Methods – Results – Discussion – Conclusions – References, and no other structure. The journal accepts papers across the entire breadth and depth of both theory and application of control systems and system identification, as defined by IFAC Technical Committees and listed below:• Systems and Signals, Dynamic Systems Modelling, and System Identification • Design Methods in Linear, Nonlinear, Optimal, Robust, Decentralised, and Distributed Control • AI / Machine Learning, Computer Systems, Cognition, and Communication Systems • Mechatronics, Robotics, Human-Machine Systems and Interfaces, and Sensors/Actuators • Cyber-Physical Manufacturing and Human Systems • Power Systems and Distribution, Process Control • Transportation, Aerospace, and Vehicle Systems • Biomedical, Biological, and Ecological Systems • Social Systems, Control Education, Economic and Financial SystemsIn addition, the Journal strongly encourages "vision papers" about IFAC Clusters and Technical Committee (CC/TC) areas, as well as the organization of special issues from IFAC Technical Committee organised symposiums. Finally, the Journal will also invite special issues and reviews in areas of special interest.Authors are strongly encouraged to provide attachments of data files, computer programs, and other links as part of the electronic environment of the papers, but not part of the reviewed work.

  • Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling

    • ISSN: 1093-3263
The Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling is devoted to the publication of papers on the uses of computers in theoretical investigations of molecular structure, function, interaction, and design. The scope of the journal includes all aspects of molecular modeling and computational chemistry, including, for instance, the study of molecular shape and properties, molecular simulations, protein and polymer engineering, drug design, materials design, structure-activity and structure-property relationships, database mining, and compound library design. As a primary research journal, JMGM seeks to bring new knowledge to the attention of our readers. As such, submissions to the journal need to not only report results, but must draw conclusions and explore implications of the work presented. Authors are strongly encouraged to bear this in mind when preparing manuscripts. Routine applications of standard modelling approaches, providing only very limited new scientific insight, will not meet our criteria for publication. Reproducibility of reported calculations is an important issue. Wherever possible, we urge authors to enhance their papers with Supplementary Data, for example, in QSAR studies machine-readable versions of molecular datasets or in the development of new force-field parameters versions of the topology and force field parameter files. Routine applications of existing methods that do not lead to genuinely new insight will not be considered.JMGM is published in association with two of the largest and most active professional societies in the field: the Molecular Graphics and Modelling Society (MGMS) and the Computers in Chemistry (COMP) Division of the American Chemical Society. Several thousand computational chemists worldwide belong to these two societies and any research topic that may of interest to the membership is within the wide scope of the journal. It is not necessary to be a member of these professional societies to publish in the journal.Published in association with the Molecular Graphics and Modelling Society www.mgms.org and the ACS Division of Computers in Chemistry.

  • International Journal of Impact Engineering

    • ISSN: 0734-743X
The International Journal of Impact Engineering, established in 1983 publishes original research findings related to the response of structures, components and materials subjected to impact, blast and high-rate loading. Areas relevant to the journal encompass the following general topics and those associated with them:Behaviour and failure of structures and materials under impact and blast loadingSystems for protection and absorption of impact and blast loadingTerminal ballisticsDynamic behaviour and failure of materials including plasticity and fractureStress wavesStructural crashworthinessHigh-... mechanical and forming processesImpact, blast and high-rate loading/measurement techniques and their applicationsManuscri... submitted for publication will be subjected to stringent peer review and assessed for their contribution to scientific understanding of phenomena and the response of structures and materials to impact, blast and high-rate loading. Work resulting in fundamental insights that benefit engineering design to accommodate high-rate loading, is relevant to the journal. Well-designed and well-documented experimental studies that advance knowledge in the response of materials and structures subjected to impact, blast and high-rate loading are of relevance and interest. However, they should be accompanied by analysis of the experimental data and appropriate conclusions. The incorporation of analytical modelling and/or numerical simulations to support the experimental findings, will enhance the depth and quality of the research reported and make it more compelling. Manuscripts that focus primarily on mathematics, materials science or computation, with little contribution to the scope of impact dynamics described above, as well as those of a purely descriptive nature lacking in analysis, will be declined. Papers comprising largely parametric studies (e.g. using commercial software), unaccompanied by convincing validation and discussion of implications or applications of results generated, as well as those on novel computational techniques without comparison with established analysis or test data, are also not solicited. In all numerical studies, it is essential to demonstrate that the material parameters used in the simulations truly represent the actual physical properties of the material investigated. Consequently, sufficient description/discussi... on how the material parameters were obtained, together with any assumptions, would be necessary. The numerical modelling must also include sufficient information to enable third parties to repeat the simulations. Manuscripts comprising primarily the following content should be submitted to other journals that are more directly related to them: (1) case studies or descriptions of engineering designs subjected to impact or blast loading; (2) dynamic testing that generates experimental data without in-depth analysis; and (3) work focused on defence or military technology. Papers in the International Journal of Impact Engineering should generally be of interest to those in the aeronautical, civil, mechanical, materials, naval, nuclear, ocean, offshore, and transportation engineering fields, as well as those in other science and engineering branches that deal with various aspects of impact, blast and high-rate loading.Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Manuscripts describing research employing ML or AI techniques must show clearly how they contribute to advancement in impact engineering and a deeper understanding of the mechanics or physics governing the topic investigated. Authors should outline the AI model’s architecture and describe the training procedure. To ensure reproducibility by others, the training datasets should also be made accessible to IJIE readers, either as supplementary material or via an open-access repository.Companion papers - Authors should submit manuscripts that can be reviewed on their own, without assuming that related earlier or subsequent submissions will be published and available for reference. Authors of companion papers should inform the Editor of the reasons why they wish to publish their work in parts.Short CommunicationsA Short Communication is a brief paper for rapid dissemination of either noteworthy progress related to a particular problem, or new findings on a topic within the Aims and Scope of the Journal. Such articles should be original and impactful to journal readers involved in the field of the article. Author(s) should refer to their published Short Communication and incorporate substantial new content if they subsequently wish to submit a full-length research paper based on expansion of the Short Communication. Before submitting a manuscript to the Journal, please note the following - Publication in this Journal is very competitive. Only high-quality manuscripts that present research findings of sufficient novelty or significance within the Aim and Scope of the Journal and follow the Guide for Authors will be considered. Otherwise the manuscript may be directly rejected by the editor and not be sent for external review. Please carefully consider these criteria before submitting your manuscript to the Journal to save both reviewer's and editor's efforts and time.

  • Landscape and Urban Planning

    • ISSN: 0169-2046
An Interdisciplinary Journal of Landscape Science, Planning and Design.Landscape and Urban Planning is an international journal aimed at advancing conceptual, scientific, and applied understandings of landscape in order to promote sustainable solutions for landscape change. Landscapes are visible and integrative social-ecological systems with variable spatial and temporal dimensions. They have expressive aesthetic, natural, and cultural qualities that are perceived and valued by people in multiple ways and invite actions resulting in landscape change. Landscapes are increasingly urban in nature and ecologically and culturally sensitive to changes at local through global scales. Multiple disciplines and perspectives are required to understand landscapes and align social and ecological values to ensure the sustainability of landscapes. The journal is based on the premise that landscape science linked to planning and design can provide mutually supportive outcomes for people and nature.Landscape science brings landscape ecology and urban ecology together with other disciplines and cross-disciplinary fields to identify patterns and understand social-ecological processes influencing landscape change. Landscape planning brings landscape architecture, urban and regional planning, landscape and ecological engineering, and other practice-oriented fields to bear in processes for identifying problems and analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating desirable alternatives for landscape change. Landscape design brings plans, designs, management prescriptions, policies and other activities and form-giving products to bear in effecting landscape change. The implementation of landscape planning and design also generates new patterns of evidence and hypotheses for further research, providing an integral link with landscape science and encouraging transdisciplinary collaborations to build robust knowledge and problem solving capacity.
